My Little Sister Is An Anti

Who the hell is Justin Bieber? Oh, I too complained about my dad smoking Chesterfields in the car with the windows rolled up.... but just once. He saw to that.

Current Magazine Ad With a Pipe in It

Hefner's first TV foray was called "Playboy's Penthouse" a B&W taped series from Chicago in 1959. Ten years later, after the big move from Chicago to L.A., Hef tried it again with "Playboy After Dark" (1969-70), in color this time, but about the same "party" format. Both series were syndicated...

    Dottle, The Unburned Tobacco

My goal of trying to burn (or at least char) every last bit of tobacco in the heel is not based on economics... it's better for the pipe. Constantly leaving stinky, wet dottle in the bottom without burning it out is the quickest way I know of to foul a pipe. The moisture should be evaporated (by...

    A Morning With Bing

I've read that Bing had many "better" pipes at home, but in public he preferred the long-stemmed Merchant Service pipe which was relatively inexpensive. Why? People were always stealing his pipes! If he set it down, it would be gone! "Know what THIS is? Bing Crosby's PIPE!!" What a trophy...

A Women Walks Into a Cigar and Tobacco Shop...Whaaat?

Great thread! What is that OMG? (Oh My God!?? Sounds like I should try it.) The closest B&M to me (70 miles, in San Angelo TX) is owned and operated by a woman. Her name is Mimi.

Current Magazine Ad With a Pipe in It

The pipe in the Playboy centerfolds was supposed to be Hef's of course. @ mso489: The movie you described is not HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY, but John Ford's THE QUIET MAN. (Ford was a pipe smoker too! :puffy: )

My First Attempt at Stem Restoration

Looks like a good show, yaz. (I love the shape of that Italian.) I've used a Magic Eraser in the kitchen, but didn't think of using it on stems. I'll have to try it! My usual grubby vulcanite stem restoration is to drop the whole stem into a small glass of Clorox bleach for a few minutes...

Breaking in My New Peterson St Patty's Day Pipe

Glad it's working better for you now, yaz. My newest pipe is also a Pete St. Pat's Day 2013, but mine is an author (my favorite shape). I followed Mark Tinsky's suggestions for breaking in his coated pipes: fill it to the top and smoke it slowly right down to the bottom! I've decided the old...

Just Tried My Corn Cob Pipe...

I have 4 or 5 MM cobs in my rotation, the last ones I bought several years ago, the "Spool" and the "Egg" shapes. I tried something new with them: I tend to dislike (not smoke often) small pipes that I can't get my finger down to the bottom of the bowl. (Some people have a "rule of thumb"...

Memorable Pipe Smokers From Your Past.

Hey, Lawrence: Do you by any chance remember the brand of those "Rum Soaked Crooks" the old guy used to smoke in his pipe? Not Wolf Bros. There was another brand wrapped in orange cellophane that I used to like... can't remember the name. Does anybody? As for my pipe smoking, my pipe-smoking...

I Forgot My Lighter! Thank Heaven for Cobs!

I fired up my pipe with a match before leaving for my weekly 70 mile drive to the nearby city to visit kinfolks. Out on the highway, I realized, to my horror, that I had left my constant traveling companion (a Corona Pipe Magie) on the side table! Oh no! No matches in the car. What will I do...

    RIP Jonathan Winters

He was one of my all-time favorites... the ORIGINAL "wild and crazy guy" (sorry Steve Martin). He did some classic routines (altho' you could never call his stuff "routine") with Dean Martin on the latter's '60s show. YouTube has them.

    Pipe Smoking and the Military.

My opinion about the military going tobacco-free? It's the same as my opinion about ANYTHING going tobacco-free, and I won't sully this forum with any of my choice words describing those nincompoops.

What are You Smoking? October, 2012

McClelland's Navy Cavendish or Peterson's Sweet Killarney (only tins I have opened now) in whatever pipe I pick up. :puffpipe:

    More restrictions in Manitoba

Things have been out of hand for years. “Research has shown that making it harder to buy tobacco products helps reduce the number of smokers and helps prevent youth from taking up smoking in the first place.” Yeah, like that has really worked with the war on dope.

    Caution: Garter Snakes are Dangerous

It's a funny story. I've seen it in e-mails for a while now. Probably not as funny as the chili-head who was banned from Home Depot (which had to be repainted inside).

    A Generous Friend

I hope Kirsten starts production again! I have 2, "build your own style" that I ordered from them in the past. A silver-colored medium (Mariner) and a curved gold Large. Best to get the biggest bowl available. Kirsten bowls don't seem to hold much. I wish they would again make the...

Pimp Your Corncob with a Cool Stem

I really like my "Forever" stems! And customer service is tops: For reasons unknown, my two M-M cobs' shanks were "undersize"... IOW, the new stems would not fit in them. I wrote Dave Wolff and I sent the pipes to him and he fit them with the Forever stems and returned them, at no charge!

Finally Figured Out the Picture System

Altadis sent me a free tin of their Mixture No.5 a couple years ago. I'm not a big English fan, but it definitely reminded me of 965 from long ago.

Chelsea Plays "Farmer’s Daughter" with Her Corn Cob Pipe

NICE babe and pics! Glad to see she finally got around to smoking it (even with a filter) and not just posing with it. :D Also glad to see the wooden match and not a dinky throw-away lighter. :puffy:
