    My Missouri Meerschaum Complaint

The cobs I smoked years ago had to be beat down.... Meaning they all had a "Production Issue" like shellac, paint, varnish, plaster of paris or some sort of crap that had to be smoked out. Just smoke your pipe a few times and whatever it is will go away..... The newer pipes don't have that...

    Meerschaum Fans... Talk To me.

I love my briers and cobs but meerschaums hold a special place in my heart. I've been smoking and collecting them since '75. As ravenwolf said, Fikri Baki is most likely one of the best masters making pipes today, and you can only get them through Deniz Ural's website. But there are plenty of...

Blend That Really Shines In A Cob

I seldom smoke tobacco's with any kind of flavoring, but Royal Yacht has always gone good in a cob with me. It's lightly flavored which I didn't like at all the first time I tried it, but was told by a friend to try it in a cob. Have been smoking it that way for years since...

United States Postal Money Orders ?????

Brad, June works at the Columbia County Sheriffs Office now, but at the United States Post Office here in Emerson, Arkansas for 14 years before that. She says you're right. It's against the law to refuse cashing a USPost Office Money Order.... She said they are impossible to duplicate.... Of...

    It Was Bound To Happen....!

I've had pipes around me since '72 and bought my first meerschaum in '75. I may have around 140 or so now... and I've always been a stickler for being easy with them and having a good place to set them down. OCD... I have to have my surroundings just right before I even take a pipe out of it's...

    "Show me your" ASHTRAYS!

This is my shop ashtray. I don't really put ashes in it, I just dump them out on the concrete floor and sweep them up with the saw dust. I used to throw matches on the deck too until I set a pile of wood shavings on fire a couple years ago....

A Return To The Valley Of Darkness

Years ago when Malls became popular around the country, (the U.S.) every single one I ever went into had a pipe and cigar store. I bought my first meerschaum and some Dunhill tobacco at a kiosk in the mall in Savannah, but they have gone the way of the dinosaur. There are no tobacco stores...

    My New Meer-- Seeking Info

Excellent Pipe...! It's a pre-mid 70's pipe. Lots of pipes were made in Vienna before the exportation of meerschaum was banned in Turkey about that time. Your pipe doesn't appear to be beaten up or scratched. What A Great Deal!

    Lighting Pipes

I used to have a problem with burning the rim, but only with a butane type lighter, so haven't used one in years. I use kitchen, strike on box matches inside and a Zippo wick type lighter outside. The flame shouldn't be going into the pipe unless your drawing it in (sucking). If your rim is...

Smoking Tip from Mountain Man “Stan”

My grandfather was outdoors 99% of daylight hours and smoked his pipe up-side-down as much as right-side-up... That kept the dust from settling in the bowl from walking behind a mule. He also did the nose-oil trick on his one and only brier all the time, but he smoked a cob most of the time. He...

How many bowls a day do you have?

I have a pipe clinched all day, everywhere I go with everything I do. If you can't smoke there, I'm not there long if I have to be there. I smoke about an ounce to an ounce and a half daily.
