Dr Grabow meaning of colored spades?

I had read on the Dr Grabow forums some time ago that the push stem pipes had the blue spade until the mid'90s. All the "adjustomatics" had white spades. Does that fit with your collection? I'd sure like to know more myself.

The Romantic View of the Past is a Bunch of Happy Horseshit

On the other hand there are forum rules we agreed to when signing up. No political threads and no discussing moderator decisions are two those rules. As is constantly pointed out when this comes up, there are endless discussion boards on political topics and very few about pipes. Personally, I'd...

My WTF Pipe From Intoxicated Ebay Shopping.

Twenty dollars is ten dollars over my ebay budget, but I may have made an exception had I seen that one! It certainly has character. If you can dig up any provenance on it that would just add to the collectability. I'd say you got a deal. But then I have a love of the weird and unwanted :-)

    Mr. Ben Dover's tobacco shop

How can they justify those kinds of prices? Seems like they don't even want to sell it. Reminds me of a story. When I worked in a retail pharmacy years ago, I typed up a prescription label with the name Ben Dover, slapped it on a bottle of cough syrup and sent it down the line for the technician...

    Three Dukes

Yes, agnosticpipe, so true. But I prefer to call it "the thrill of the hunt" rather than "angst". It is all part of the madness that is PAD. I want to add that there was absolutely nothing wrong with that Silver Duke. The finished had been marred by being in a drawer for so many years, but other...

    Three Dukes

I told myself that I had enough straight billiards to last a lifetime, but when nobody bid on the Silver Duke in the middle I just had to click the button and offer my ninety-nine cents. So now I have three Dukes, a regular, Silver and Golden. No more Dukes! (Unless I see a bent one come up)

"Smoke the Pipe That Hef Smokes" Ad

In inflation adjusted dollars from 1968, fifteen dollars is equal to $102.00 in today's money. I'm not paying that much for an etched bunny on my pipe, then or now!

Is a Pipe Really a Pipe If It Has Never Been Smoked?

There are those who are sufficiently wealthy to afford to keep stuff around they don't use. I'm not one of those, but I appreciate the collectors of things so the pipes are preserved for posterity. I also love my estates and wonder who first bought them, the hours they spent enjoying them...

    Tasting The Smoke!!

The taste experience can be elusive for some. Of course, the trick is to get the smoke moving around the various receptors in the mouth and nose. I've been pipe smoking for 30 years and I've just scratched the surface of tobacco tasting. I'd have to agree with latbomber, because it wasn't until...
