Although I won't argue that it's not an uggo pipe at least in its current state, I often look at pipes caked in the manner yours is an wonder how many hundreds of simply Devine smokes the previous owner had with it. Do a restore on her and see what happens, it might be a diamond in the rough.

settersbrace, I was thinkin that too. What if this is the best smoking pipe that ever existed, and the owner passed away.. and nobody knows??
I think since I actually bought this.. thinking something or another, that I owe it to the old codger pipe to bring it back from the dead. ;) But, it's also really cool just to stare at it and wonder just exactly what you said about all those hundreds of bowls of baccy someone enjoyed, who they were, where they were, what their circumstances were, oh.. and wtf possessed them to buy this pipe.. were they drunk too?

Simnettpratt, you handled yourself well and did not commit any such poor business transactions.
As for myself. I am avoiding all tobacco and auction sites this evening :)

Pipe??? Yeah..check that shit for teflon tape on the outside. That sucker looks like it did a stint coupled to a p-trap. Dont waste your time with a reamer, that thing needs a plumber.

Twenty dollars is ten dollars over my ebay budget, but I may have made an exception had I seen that one! It certainly has character. If you can dig up any provenance on it that would just add to the collectability.
I'd say you got a deal. But then I have a love of the weird and unwanted :)

Interestingly enough, I have a pipe that has carved designs very similar to that except that it is a bulldog shape (I believe it was from a member here). I haven't smoked mine yet, but I got it (sober, in fact) BECAUSE of the odd carving and decoration. It reminded me of seashells. Anyway, it's on the docket for a retort cleaning along with some others. If I can get away from the Honey-Do list this weekend, I may be able to clean it up and give an inaugural smoke. As I recall, the shank on mine is a diamond rather than round with a tapered vulcanite bit.

The bottom pic kind of looks like what was left of the 20 year old wax ring when I pulled our old commode the other day while remodeling the bathroom. 8O
Uh....how does she smoke?

I'm sure you need lots of hours to digging out those cake and clean up the pipe.

Hope at least smoke well after cleaning.

That's a nice looking pipe and the price is right. Check out this pipe with a zipper

Could've been worse. I once ordered a 1796 Heavy Cavalry Sword while blitzed and reading Sharpe's Sword. Still got it on the wall. :D

Was over at a buddys house, he's handing out pocket knives. Turns out he did some heavy drinking and was watching QVC. He ended up purchasing 30+ knives in one sitting. Box shows up at his house and he's wondering what it was lol.
I myself am guilty of drunk cigar shopping. Wifey was none too happy.
