    Cigars Just Aren't The Same

I've found that I have to spend as much on one cigar as I do on a tin of pipe tobacco to even have a chance to enjoy it. It's just not a good value for me. So I've given up cigars completely. (unless someone offers me one)

    The Zippo Factory is Haunted?

I've talked to housekeepers who work swing and graveyard shifts at the hospital who have quit or asked to be moved to another area because of things like this. The hospital is over a hundred years old, so we've had plenty of time to collect...guests. Some check out, but they never leave. 8O

    ebay Was Hacked

Good idea to change the password, but since they were strongly encrypted the greatest danger is getting hit with bogus phone calls and e-mails with fraudulent deals. I don't fret too much about these kinds of things. Just part of living in the digital age. Most fraud is committed at point of...

    Estate Riviera Cleanup

@plateauguy,I did initially scrub it with acetone and that removed the varnish layer. I used Everclear in-between sandings. I'm just not sure where the darkening comes from. It seems pretty deeply embedded in the grain.

    Estate Riviera Cleanup

@brudnod, thanks a lot. I remember seeing an estate pipe in an antique shop many, many years ago and thinking to myself, "Who would ever buy something like that? Gross!" Now, here I am making antique store circuit runs every month looking for old pipes! One of the things that really got me fired...

    Estate Riviera Cleanup

In the case of factory made pipes newer does not always seem to mean better. Speaking of newer pipes, I recently learned I'm going to be getting a bonus this summer. With the preliminary approval of my finance minister (wife) I've already begun making a shopping list. At the top of that list is...

***What Are You Smoking*** (May 2014)

Spent an hour with Squadron Leader in an old Jet Stream then finished the night with Russ' Cinnamon Roll in a 1957 Dr Grabow Riviera. Great end to a nice day off from work.

    Estate Riviera Cleanup

I'm always on the lookout for the old pre-paper filter Grabow pipes. I won this one for the very same price the pipe original sold for in 1957, $1.50! That makes it the cheapest pipe I own....so far. It arrived in pretty good shape, despite appearing to have been moderately smoked by the looks...

First Smoke in "Carved my First Pipe"

It must be very satisfying to be able to create something so beautiful and that will give so much pleasure for so many decades. That's what art is all about.

    Carved my First Pipe

Stunning! I just might pay $900.00 for that pipe, an early "Bullbriar". :puffy: Seriously, it looks absolutely beautiful.

    My First Poker

    Great looking pipe!

    The Ugliest Pipe You Own

Ugliest pipe I own would have to be this Harlekin. Not really too bad for a ten minute smoke, but it looks like paraphernalia.

    I Need A Phytosanitary Certifiicate!

Musicians have been having their instruments seized at airports because of this nonsense.

    Stanwell PAD, Made In Denmark!

I like that one a lot!

    Dunhill MM 965

@lostandfound, I'm glad you "piped up". I've got it in mason jars now so I will let it sit for awhile longer. It's possible I've just become so acclimated to Balkan Supreme so much that everything else tastes a bit strange. I've even been put off of my formerly beloved Squadron Leader recently...

    Medico Jet Stream Estate

Wow, you really must be fond of them! I'd like to get one of the underslung variety next.

    Dunhill MM 965

I have smoked other Dunhill tobacco without unpleasant results, but they were from tins.

    A Golden Oldie Of A 9458

I saw that one too and was going to bid but I wasn't sure I'd be able to repair the button. (I don't like the rubber guards). Let us know how it smokes!

    Dunhill MM 965

I bought a pound of MM 965 when it was on sale at P&C and I'm still trying to learn to like it. Maybe one of these days I'll put it in the right pipe at the right time and enjoy it. The taste is too sharp, almost acrid, and the room note is sort of sour like ammonia. I'll keep trying.

    Medico Jet Stream Estate

I liked the first one so much I bid on a second, this time complete with a stock stem. Not a bad pipe for five bucks, eh?
