    Ebay Dealer Alert . . .

This just arrived from the bay on Saturday. I got it for $9.99. Looks like it was smoked just a couple times. I've got an old Dr Grabow coming in Monday that I won for $0.99! That one's gonna take some work. I'm pretty sure. Ok, I'm not winning big here, but I'm not losing either :-)

The Tobacco Press That You Already Own

I'd love to do some home blending after I retire next year. Fantastic blend names, too! "Rich and Strange", "Full Fathom Five"... Maybe the next blend will be "Sea-Change"? Full fathom five thy father lies; Of his bones are coral made; Those are pearls that were his eyes; Nothing of him that...

A :"Novice review" of H&H WHITEKNIGHT!!!

Thanks for the detailed review. I just got my tins today and because I really have a lack of skill to describe taste I'll echo hotshot's review, "It's good. I like it". Actually, I found the first bowl very good. The only thing I can compare it to in my limited experience so far is Peter...

    An Incredible Old Orlik...

Very cool to read about and see those old pipes. Nice "patina" on yours. I suppose you will want to leave it as is? I think I would. You have to have respect for something that has survived that long!

The latest post on Reborn Pipes has a demonstration on bending a stem using a heat gun.

    Ebay Dealer Alert . . .

Sorry to hear of your unsatisfactory experience. My rule is not to spend more than I care to lose. (sort of like Las Vegas) Now, I'll be in the market for a more expensive new pipe this summer and I won't be gambling $200.00 on ebay for that. On the other hand, I wouldn't be too upset about...

    Cleaning Dublins

You could use a British Buttner or also, maybe the smallest Castleford reamer would word better for your small pipe bowls. I use my grandfather's old Cook's reamer. It looks like this:

Recent Changes to Vermont's Tobacco Laws

Because we no longer have the force of shame to modify bad behavior we have to turn over such things to the police and the courts. You can call it "slippery slope" but I call it a trend of just giving up social responsibility to faceless, impersonal institutions. Things that used to be merely...

An Old Druid Pipe Advert ---- And A Few Others...

Always entertaining to look at those old ads. What's with the "Craven" tobacco? definition: lacking the least bit of courage : contemptibly fainthearted Not exactly the kind of "tobacco man" I want to be!

Obtained a Yello Bole Chesterfield KB&B -Finally!

Congrats on your find! I'm seeing fewer and fewer of those as the years go by. It's not too hard to reshape the stem as long as you don't over do it. All you need is a heat gun and a rolling pin. Here's my beloved Chesterfield. They are great for those long smoking sessions with a good book.

    Nothing Worse Than A Thief!!!

Gary, I know the feeling after been a victim of burglary myself. It's not the missing stuff so much as the feeling of having your personal space violated. I came home from a swing shift one night to find a guy in my living room stacking stuff up outside to hand to his partner standing on the...

New Pipe Smokers: You Have My Respect

It really does take perseverance, and it's almost impossible without a mentor or a really good research source. I wish I had access to this forum about thirty years ago. I remember once ordering a sampler pack of tobaccos, feeling ready to branch out from my Crown Royale aromatic. After about...

What is your most expensive pipe ,why'd you buy it & do you regret it?

I suppose a pipe is no more a nicotine delivery device than a Lamborghini Veneno is a person delivery device. :D Pipes can have a special look and feel that enhances the smoking the experience. The one you choose to use at any given time depends on the occasion or your mood.

Hand carved "Bespoke" Custom Briar Pipe

I've seen a lot of carved figural pipes, but this one is just amazing! Definitely one of a kind! A hundred years from now one of my great grandchildren will probably be viewing it in a museum.

    Relights

Does anyone else use occasional "back drafts" to keep your pipe lit? That's what I do if I feel it start to go out. Just give it a few soft puffs and back it comes.
