Your All Time Favorite 3 TV Series

Three is too few. All these come to mind: MASH. Seinfeld. Downton Abbey. Fawlty Towers. Peaky Blinders. Black Adder. The Kominsky Method.

Non-Floral Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Bulk Recommendations?

Brown Twist is wonderful and easy to deal with. No flavorings whatsoever. Glengarry Flake is nice if you like honey with your Virginia.

    Fresh Coffee

I'm currently grinding a pair of roasts from my old friend Justin at Badbeard's Microroastery in Portland - half a blend of Indonesian coffees with half decaf Veracruz Altura. It's delicious. Ever since the doc told me to cut down on the caffeine intake, I've found it's not so easy to find good...

***What Are You Smoking, February 2023?***

Is that a new pipe, @craig61a? The one I was looking at on SP about 2 weeks ago? Very nice!

Hansom Flake in my wee Medico Dublin.

    Rich Tobaccos

+1 on the Coniston cut plug. +1 on the H&H Old Dark Fired And for a nice, deeply flavored GH blend without typical Lakeland flavorings, sliced Brown Twist is wonderful.

    Floral Pipe Tobacco?

If P&C has no Gawith products but you want a Lakeland, you should try Peterson's Hyde Park. It has burley in it, though. Another possibility is St Bruno. Both of these have floral components.

    Quick Smoke Tobaccos

Using a good shag for a small RYO cig is always an alternative to the pipe ritual and the time limitations it can impose. One learns to gently puff that cig without inhaling. 5 - 10 minutes from start to finish.

    Kabob Filters?

A pice of cardboard would probably work better than a kabob stick for absorbing moisture. Next up: Pop Rocks instead of Nording Keystones!

    Favorite alcohol for pipe cleaning/sweetening

    Whiskey. Corn, Irish, or bourbon.

    Purported Charatan Second

Wait...shouldn't a 'purported' Charatan actually be called a... Charlatan? That's a nice pipe, by the way - whatever you decide to call it.

    Favorite Oatmeal Cut?

Since being turned on to Irish/steel cut, I have little interest in oatmeal made from rolled/quick/old fashioned oats. Have never tried the Scottish variety. I prepare my steel cut oats to eat with blueberries, cream, and a bit of maple syrup on top.

Yep, I have a Royalton that I quite enjoy.

    Filter pipes

Along with the many fine brands already mentioned, Medico, Dr. Grabow, and certain Missouri Meerschaum cobs take 6mm filters. I have pipes from each of these and they all smoke great.

    Old or Mold?

I am really no expert, just ruminating here. The UF looks like what I have seen on some flakes I've smoked, which I see as plume - streaky and sparkly, and not really raised up from the surface of the flake. I would think that if what's on the FVF is raised or mounding on the surface, or...

    OJK BLUE or PEGASUS?

Most interesting, thanks for the fulsome reply! I quite enjoyed the one packet of Pinkerton-era Granger that I smoked, so I must've been lucky and snagged a good one. It would have been probably at least 10 years old, and the flavor was a bit deeper and fruitier than what I get from the...

    OJK BLUE or PEGASUS?

@Grangerous, I sort of see you as the resident expert on all things Granger. I'm wondering if you can provide a quick synopsis on the history of Granger's manufacture, and any changes to the blend or its characteristics resulting from it being picked up by another company. Myself, I've only...

The Specials frontman Terry Hall dies

WOW, sir - you are the real deal. 🙇 Congrats on being able to do what many others could only hope to do - much respect! Thanks for sharing this moment, what a cool clip! The band & Ken sound great, on a rock solid foundation, natch! If I'm ever in NYC again I'll be sure to look you up!!
