Bought this pipe from longtime collector. I was attracted to the 360 straight grain not to the XL or extra thick wall. Unbranded except marked Straight Grain made in London. The bowl has bit replacement and a dark stain with hard to detect shallow fills. After a great smoke it changed my mind about the advantage of thick wall. Now I do not care who made the pipe because this is the best $50 investment ever made.

It's true, if the fundamentals of a pipe are correct and well-crafted, its lack of up-market brand and prestigious pedigree don't make a damn. Various of my "cookers" fall into that category. The smoking couldn't be any better in a pipe that required an insurance rider.
