    Those Silver "Tinfoil" Bags

Sorry. Etailer. Yes Mylar bags with a zip lock for resealing. Not the heat seal ones. I can always use those humidity buttons that you soak and throw into bags as well. Thanks guys.

    Those Silver "Tinfoil" Bags

Title edited for caps. Rule 9. Pretty sure you mean Mylar. Can get from Amazon. - jpmcw. I’m usually throwing baccy from a jar into a plastic bag. And as usual I end up with too many plastic bags and the baccy dries out. Id like to source some of those silver bags with a good zip lock to...

    "Poop" Pipe

Heard a great line on Weeds the other night. “Birthing a Texan”. No offense to Texas. Great story.

    Question about Febings dye

    Thanks everyone.

    Question about Febings dye

After setting the stain, a lot of the stain comes off. That’s why I usually have to use alcohol after staining. Perhaps I’m not waiting long enough for the pipe to rest after applying stain.

    Question about Febings dye

I use Febings a lot for dyeing my refurbs. I have a question about setting the stain. I don’t understand why we set the stain by flaming the wet stain. Flaming doesn’t set the stain for me. In fact nothing seems to actually set the stain. I can usually set a stain by adding a bit of mineral oil...

Off Taste - Reduce Draw - Reline Pipe

Cotton balls and iso alcohol. Repeat a few times.

    Sources of Pipes for Restoration?

Usually I scan fleabay for pipes to restore. I’m living in a small City in SK Canada and I’m sure I’m the only guy who smokes a pipe. We don’t have any sources in our province. Yard sales and such. I can buy a bag of pipes, but usually all off brands. I like Stanwells, and Brighams. On the bay...

My Experience with Lbepen Deoxidizer [with pics]

all of these products would. I usually make sure the logo has some silicone grease on the logo. Sometimes I use tape and silicone grease. Vaseline isn’t bad, but you need a grease that is thick. Plumbers grease is good as well.

What Tobaccos do You Not Cellar?

I think I’m with a few on this one. I think a mixture should be good when you get it. If I have anything in jars it’s for storage only. I know that many GLP blends are better with age, but I don’t really understand the reasoning. I do have some jars that are rather old. If I happen to buy 8oz I...

    Formula 1 (2023)

I’ve found this thread. I don’t think I missed one race this year. Recorded a few to watch over Jan and Feb. If it was a little warmer I think Vegas would’ve even been better. Nice to see a competitive race. I’m a Lewis and Mercedes fan. Personally for me, I have difficulty cheering for Red...

    Tooth Paste For Stem Cleaning

Another grittier toothpaste one may use is the Arm and Hammer. This does contain baking sofa.

My Experience with Lbepen Deoxidizer [with pics]

I cannot recommend this deoxidizer. This product is made for fountain pens. The fact that it is being used for pipe stems is an off shoot. @georged has mentioned is correct. I can recommend the restoration balm which is water friendly, and the two grits of pipe polish. There just isn’t any...

    Filling Bite Marks on Stems

Thanks, I’ll look for that. When I checked it was $60.

    Draft Hole Too Large

@georged - George the repair worked like a charm. I measured less than an inch, and used some epoxy. I’ve got a little low floor to repair a bit, but other than that it was my first shot at carving a defective piece of briar. Next time I’ll use aluminum tubing for many fixes including shattered...

    Filling Bite Marks on Stems

Nice work. What colorant did you use with the gflex. The tint is expensive from the folks who make gflex.
  19. W

    Filling Bite Marks on Stems

The G flex is easier to work with. The CA glue tends to run a lot. The tint is very expensive even in smaller amounts. I wonder if powdered charcoal could be used as a colorant?

Smoke Them Down to the Bottom

“To each his own”. Usually I smoke till I need a relight. Tamp everything down, ash and all. Smoke again, then repeat until it tastes rather bad and I’m done. Cake will naturally form higher in the bowl. My key is not throwing out old ash. It lights better and stays lit. That’s my own.
