Notice it’s very slow compared to the old one. I’m a web developer and if the viewer has to wait more than 3 seconds they tend to move along. It’s the developers curse of instant gratification. im glad it’s working better. Project in progress.

    Draft Hole Too Large

Thanks Ken. It’ll be well sanded. I’m a little worried about weight because I didn’t use aluminum. I think if I have to repair a shank, or do this in the future I may use aluminum. Aluminum tubing in specific sizes is much harder to source than stainless steel.

    Draft Hole Too Large

Agree. Even if you made a dowel, then hollow the dowel without breaking or cracking, then resanding and gluing it’s a lot of work for a fix of 1 inch stainless steel. The writer goes on to use food safe epoxy. I think he means white glue. Same guy pieces together a shank in multi piece, uses...

    Draft Hole Too Large

George, I did some more research on the stainless steel tube fix. Another fixer on Reddit mentions making a dowel of briar, then gluing, then drilling the briar draft hole. This one is beyond my pay grade as I don’t have a dill press that accurate. Food for thought I guess.

I’m not a newbie, but I do like it for stats on blenders most fav blends. Being in Canada one cannot sample everything that comes down the line. Also it details what a particular blend is made of. Essentially it’s just another tool for smokers. (still down or wonky btw)

I just noticed this. It looks like it’s be down for at least a day and a half which has been a little long for general maintenance. Sure hope it’s nothing serious. I use the reviews often. Usually I can log in, but can’t even do that. Somethings up. -Bill

    Draft Hole Too Large

@georged I went with 7mm. Might be a little on the wide side but I figure I can sand that a bit. 1mm walls. Now I have to figure out how to measure the hole to the tenon. I might have to go with 8mm. I think I can measure that draft hole with a drill bit to be sure.

    Draft Hole Too Large

That’s what I was thinking George. Thank You. I think there’s aluminum tubing on Amazon someplace.

    Draft Hole Too Large

I’ve got a decent piece of briar that I fashioned into a nice bowl. The daft hole was already cut. It’s extremely large, just a shade below 1/4 inch. Any idea how I can reduce the size of the hole on the pipe Thanks everyone, Bill

Does Pipe Smoking Reduce Stress and/or Blood Pressure?

It’s relaxing for me. My pipe triggers a relaxation response, somewhat like meditation. I don’t inhale at all.

    C&D Burley #1 thru #5

I’d like to try some of these but #1-3 sound almost alike, #4 has some Latakia, and #5 is ?? has anyone tried all of them, some of them? Many thanks, -Bill

    Best of the berries?

I’ve been venturing into aeros lately and really enjoy BRM. I’m more of a maple and vanilla fan. Presently I just find aeros a little more interesting. Vapers are great but most of them require aging, and several winners have changed their recipes (escudo). BRM got the cherry right. There’s...

Brand New to Pipes and Already Learning Lessons

I’ve restored a bunch of Grabows in the grab Bags you can buy. They smoke very, very well. Just as well as my Stanwells.

My Experience with Lbepen Deoxidizer [with pics]

I’d be interested in reviews on the Briarville product. Probably much the same, and perhaps a little stronger. I believe the solution is fine for fountain pens and saving the clementure (on fountain pens only). I’ve always done an oxy soak with Vaseline on logos, then sanding with sandpaper...

    Viprati horn stem - maintenance?

You can use clear CA glue for some pit marks on horn stems. After sanding mineral oil and obsidian oil will be absorbed by the horn.

Stem repair (broken tenon & fills)

For shank repair aluminum tubing is a very good choice. You can glue a close fitting tube into one end of the break. Then glue the rest of the shank onto the tube. It’s a very solid fix. For the chewed up stems black CA glue is your go to. That can be mixed with charcoal. With no pictures it’s...

    Tooth Paste For Stem Cleaning

A toothpaste with some baking soda in it. Be careful though because some can be quite aggressive. I polish up a brass razor with toothpaste.

Making a Blah Blend more Interesting

Blends called Weybridge which has a changed recipe, and Prairie Wind. Both are just alright in my opinion, but I’d like to not pitch them.

Making a Blah Blend more Interesting

I’ve posted this before but I thought I’d get a couple more ideas. I have two rather uninteresting vaper. To make them more interesting or tasteful, one suggestion would be BCA from Lane. Maybe one could add more red Virginia or something. The two blends just are very monochromatic and...
