I’ve posted this before but I thought I’d get a couple more ideas. I have two rather uninteresting vaper. To make them more interesting or tasteful, one suggestion would be BCA from Lane. Maybe one could add more red Virginia or something. The two blends just are very monochromatic and uninteresting.
Any more ideas. Much appreciated,

Bill

I'm having difficulties understanding what a "blah" vaper would be.

...especially one that would benefit from adding an aromatic to it.
Can you tell us which vaper this is... so that I can chose to either laugh or cry?
Thanks in advance...

I would suggest Blending Orientals.
Scotts Companion a VaPerOr from B&B Tobacconist in Asheville NC is a good example of what happens when adding Orientals to a Vaper, I believe they use a touch of Sutfill Ts-24

I think a little red (esp a vinegar-y one like 514-RC1) or a dark fired helps blah blends of the VaPer genre.
It’ll probably get a tear or chuckle out of @cosmicfolklore, but I’ve added Lane Black Raspberry to MM Country Gentleman, and Barbados Plantation to Haunted Bookshop and jarred them to make a smoke I can choke down. I found both blends to suck on their own.

I used to make my own “best of the rest” by mixing up blends I didn’t care for. I found that Chance could produce better results than what I could think up.

Or you might try blending in tiny amounts of straight Latakia

My go to for years was to add exactly the same amount of 5100 Red Cake.

I have yet to find an alternative....I have tried everything with red Virginia that I can find.

Blends called Weybridge which has a changed recipe, and Prairie Wind. Both are just alright in my opinion, but I’d like to not pitch them.

Prairie Wind, sour, a touch of acidity, bready... I have several pounds of this still aging. I've never had Weybridge.
But, you might just jar it and set it back into your cellar. Tastes change, we become better at tasting, and sometimes that blends change in time. If you don't like them now, you might later on. I'd rather set it back than start dumping aromatics in it.

However, sometimes I will add some latakia to things or dark fire, just to give me new flavors and tastes. Nothing wrong with whatever you chose.

I don't know vape, or how you are using pipe tobacco. So I'll address this as a pipe smoker. Try cigar leaf, black Cavendish, or a single leaf Virginia or burley..

I ran into the same thing with an almost tasty blend that was a bit lacking. It took small steps to get there, but the end result was amazing! Added the following;
Stoved Virginia, unflavored Black Cavendish, Perique, Brown Flake Unscented and Brown Irish X.
The waste basket blend was a little sweet, strong, tangy and a bit smoky - not sure where that came from.

I don't know if this fits the bill or not, but I'll do a 60/40 mix of 1-Q to 5 brothers when I'll be someplace where an English of vaper room note is not appreciated. It has enough of a "good pipe" smell for the crowd and enough strength from the 5 brothers to work for me. I'm thinking I'll brand it "Brother Q".

Try drying it much more than you normally would and see if that helps.

If you want to try blending something in I’d try some Smyrna (oriental). McClelland 5100 was my go-to red for adding to blends but that’s no longer available. There aren’t any rules so try whatever you have on hand.

Let it sit and age a bit if all else fails.

I'd had a batch of C&D's Oriental Silk, (essentially a VaPer with oriental) that was tasting off to me, Mixed it with some blending dark fired and it turned into a tasty blend. Might do that again in the near future.

I used to do that when I was still trying to work out what blends suited me and my pipes. I started out with the milder American and Danish style tobaccos from Gawith Hoggarth and Century, like American Black and Brown, Black Cordial etc. Nice at first but became bland as my tastes developed. Often used to mix up blends that had become a bit so-so and I kept a small jar of Latakia or some stoved black cavendish for blending.
Latakia was good for adding a bit of kick and the stoved cavendish helped take some of the artificial sweetness out of overly sweet top-dressed blends and made them a bit more tobacco-y, if you know what I mean. (I've come to dislike sweet fruit dressings, vanilla and the rather artificial cherry flavourings which seem to be a feature of some Danish blends).

I once bought a tin of Rattrays. Can't remember which one it was but while the taste was OK it was very dry and hot. Mostly bright virginias I think, which I find a bit hot. I laced it with a few drops of rum to moisten it up and put it in a drawer for a few months. It was quite nice when it had matured.

Don't blend any more now I've settled into Kendal flakes and found my go-to ready-rubbeds.
