    I Bought my Dream Pipe!

Congrats! Feels good to get a pipe that you are really happy with. If you have not already considered this, estate pipes are a great way to go in finding good pipes that may be lightly loved at a good savings. I'm also a fan of Petersons and the P-Lip! :sher:

    Further explorations of Latakia

I also prefer slightly sweeter latakia smokes and keep unflavored black Cavendish and stoved Virginias on hand to just add a touch to lightly sweeten up a blend. This can make a noticeable difference in the overall flavors and lightens the smokiness of some latakia blends. Latakia ia not for...

    Most Unique Blends

What are some of the more unique pipe blends everyone here has encountered in the past few years? With Stoved Rustica and Orientals, Turkish Latakia and other 'new' components, there have to be some interesting ones that stand out as of late. Do Tell.

    Electric Cooler Hunidor

Use Boveda pouches and get rid of the water, crystals, PG, cat litter or anything else. The humidity will settle to a perfect level in a few days. No need for a hydrometer when using Bovedas! I prefer 65% - never over humidified and light well every time with the 65%. Oh, and forget the BS...

    Real Bad at Lighting Cigars

Toast the entire foot of the cigar until lit. Never light a cigar in your mouth. Looks like the OP's cigar is over humidified. A cone like that is unpleasant and tastes like mud! If in doubt - dry box a cigar for a day or so.

    C & D Burley Blends

As a usual English / Scottish style guy, I've been looking into burley blends as of late and at the recommendation of friends here, picked up a bit of C&D Big-n-Burley to try. In a word - Amazing! Very stout, full flavored smoke that shot into my regular rotation. After some 15 plus years of...

Why do English/Balkan Blends Burn so Well?

Could be me, but I believe that Latakia seems to take to a flame very well and burns nicely! Like you, I occasionally have challenges with keeping Virginias properly burning.

Has Peterson Quality Suffered in Recent Years?

    For the Community

Same here. I introduced my cigar buddy to the expanded tastes of pipe tobaccos and he is amazed by the variety of tastes and flavors available. Initially, he didn't believe that there are many more varieties than are available with cigars. In true domino effect form, he then introduced...

What Makes a Cigar Leaf: "Cigar Leaf"?

Actually, some tobacco blenders do identify the types of cigar leaf included in their blends. At least, they identify Connecticut or Maduro cigar leaf. You won't likely ever get more detail, such as Nicaraguan, Dominican, etc. A good way to know exactly what the cigar leaf in your blend is...
