Antique Store Bragging Finds.
I've got to get back there soon and see if there are any new additions. The lady running the store was worried that the pipe was made of ivory. She had no idea what meerschaum was. There are no markings on the pipe and the the carving is not the most intricate I've seen. For sheer size though...- tuold

Aromatics in your rotation? With a dedicated pipe?
I tried some Sutliff Rum Raisin last night and it had the distinct flavor and aroma of Play-Doh. That led me to search out what the fragrance is in Play-Doh and it turns out it's heliotrope. Who would have guessed? You can cross that one off your list!- tuold

Here it is as it appeared on ebay. Not an impressive pipe by any means, but interesting to me for its historical/cultural value. I haven't done anything with it yet. -

Just an addendum to the great material added by mrlowercase. Here's an ad in the Cornell student newspaper about class pipes. So, we can tell the tradition of the class pipe extended at least into the 1950s. In fact I have since picked up an estate Medico Alma Mater "Summa" from that period. -
