    Pipe Movies

"He looked like any other man. He even smoked a pipe". From "The Stranger" Edward G Robinson has a lit pipe in mouth throughout the entire movie. It's seems to be purposely placed as a defining part of his character. You can watch the entire movie here: The Stranger -1946

    Sutliff Aro's

While Molto Dolce is a bit too much of a mix for me I have been enjoying Sutliff's "Spiced Rum". The taste is as advertised and it burns well. "County Cork" isn't too bad, either. I took that with me on a road trip awhile back and got some favorable comments from passersby.

    Tsuge Grading Nomenclature

happypiper, take a look at the sticky section for instructions on how to post pictures. I'd like to see what you are looking at there. I much enjoy my Tsuge. Mine is not on the "pricey" side though. I think it was around a hundred bucks.

    Salvatella Albatros 505

Here's an eBay estate I picked up on a whim. It's a Salvatella Albatros. From what I've been able to read on a Bolivian Pipe forum, (Thank you Google Translate) Salvatella was a Spanish pipe company that went out of business in 2001. It seems to be of good quality briar and accurate engineering...

    New Violin

I bought a new Scott Cao violin for my wife to play in her bluegrass band. She also plays guitar, mandolin and tenor mandolin. (I play bass) This gives me some bargaining power for a new PAD and TAD binge! It's only fair, right?

I changed my avatar, but its still the old one.

Maybe a mod has to approve the picture first? It took awhile for my change to become effective.

    Bing Crosby Pipe shape?

Interesting thread. What about Savinelli's "Clark's Favorite" supposedly based on a pipe of Clark Gable? Even as the Savinelli pipes may not deserve the Bing and Clark labels they are handsome pipes on their own merits. I've had the rusticated Bing in my shopping cart for weeks but just might go...

The new crown jewel of my collection - Regal by Dr. Grabow

That's a very nice pipe, and not so easy to find these days. Enjoy smoking it and taking care of it.

    Blackwood Pipe

That is a fine looking pipe! I'd be pleased to have it my collection, for sure.

    Any Experienced Guitarists Out There?

Everybody's advice hear is probably better than mine, but I've found the guitar to be a bit too much to manage for beginning musicians. Maybe a lot of that depends on your teacher and your own motivation. Still, I'd say the mandolin is often overlooked as a starting instrument despite it's being...

WebMD - Why can't doctors be honest and upfront.

I used to think when I read about things in the newspaper or saw things on television that I knew not to be true that there was some vast conspiracy going on. How could educated well informed people say such idiotic uniformed things unless there was some sort of plot somewhere? Well, in my...

    "Walnut Antique" Pipe

I should have indicated the measurements! Those are mikans there, not oranges. It's a fairly standard sized pipe, about 5 1/4" long. I just went out to the shop to measure it but it's lost out there amongst the pile of pipes I call the "collection". Mojoe, I want to see a picture of your Walnut...

    Cleaning metal tenon?

+1 on Everclear and steel wool. I've also used a dental pick to scrape stains off stingers.

RFI: Who Made "Century Old" Pipes?

Thanks, huntertrw. That is helpful information. It seems MC imported pipes from a wide variety of sources. It's satisfying to know the pipe is Italian in origin by way of England. I'm looking forward to starting work!

I sort of like it when these ancient threads get resurrected. It's like opening a time capsule.

RFI: Who Made "Century Old" Pipes?

I've got two old estate pipes stamped "Century Old" on them. One is a torpedo or zeppelin shaped pipe and the most recent acquisition is a stubby bulldog. I'm more interested in finding any info on the bulldog. Here are a couple of pictures. You can see the name, "Morell McKenzie" stamped on...

    Joe Biden: Epic Gaffe

I think you really wanted to put this in "General Discussion" but we can let the mods worry about that. Good ol' Joe isn't allowed much front time with the public these days....for obvious reasons.

    Save Me!

I'd buy it but I'm pretty sure it has "sparrowhawk" stamped on the other side of the pipe.
