WDC Estate Fraternity Pipe - Phi Kappa Alpha

The stem is vulcanite. The triangle is lightly stamped and painted. The bottom of the shank is stamped "Hesson Guard" and the patent number.

WDC Estate Fraternity Pipe - Phi Kappa Alpha

Fascinating stuff on WDC history. As I was reading it, the picture of that inner tube struck me as being familiar. Digging down into my pipe accumulations I found this WDC Milano that I had won on eBay some time ago. I'm paying a bit more attention to it now that I know some background info.

    Ghosts of yesterday

Well, for me there is nothing worse than enjoying a toasty English blend, then suddenly getting some sort of floral overtone in the mix. Ecccch! It doesn't happen often because I clean my estate really well.

    Cleaning with Alcohol

I doubt you removed and of the wood stain, just the wax coating. Get some carnauba wax from Amazon.com, rub it on an old piece of cloth and hand buff your pipe back to its former shiney self.

    Commodore 31 Resto: Before/After

I believe I'd smoke that pipe. Yes I would. Tremendous work!

Free of breaks and repairs and a bargain of a price @ $25

I bet Daniel could make something of that wreck. Maybe if he offered $5.00? This was funny, too: "Made of: Typical pipe materials."

    The Diamond-Shanked Bulldog

I really like those Peterson bulldogs and will put one on my wishlist. I don't have anything as nice as those above, but here are a few of the dogs in my kennel. A Briarmeer: Digby:

Show Off Your Savinelli Pipe Here!

Everybody's got a Bing's Favorite so I ordered a Clark's Favorite just to be different. ( I still want a Bing's) It's a nice pipe to sit down and sip a quality tobacco.

C&D Big 'n Burley, What It Says, But Better

Thanks to snagstangl I have a sample of Big 'n Burley. (as well as an assortment of other burley blends) I'm taking mso489's advice to heart about going slow with this one since its amazing "N power" just about knocked me over when I lit up a few minutes ago! I've mostly been smoking balkans for...

    Whitehall Resto: Before/After (Pics)

It does look a lot like the Whithalls I have as well, except all mine are meerschaum lined. Beautiful restoration there!

My Adventure In The World Of Pipes

Every Cloud has its Silver Lining

Reminds me of that scene in "Selfridges" when he goes into a haberdashery to buy socks. He's not sure what he needs and all the socks are in drawers behind the counter. The proprietor ends up kicking him out of the store.

Went Antique Hunting Today, Help With One Pipe Please (Pics)

As far as I'm concerned, you lucked out on that LHS! Allbriars don't come up often for auction on eBay and when they do one like yours would go for thirty bucks or more. Antique stores are the way to go!

Why are the Originals Always Better?

Having refurbished some 200 estate pipes and buying a few new ones over the years I'd say there are two factors affecting the difference in quality specifically of factory made pipes. One is the current availability issues of new, quality briar and the other is the "test-of-time" factor where...

    Three restorations I just finished

    Holy Spirits Hospital ?

We're having a difficult time finding qualified candidates for positions at our hospital even without that kind of ridiculous policy. I bet it doesn't apply to the professional staff. They wouldn't put up with it.

Post Your Picture With a Pipe.

Somethings are best left unseen...oh well. I'm not responsible for shattering computer screens.

Dentist said I have periodontitis ('gum' inflammation) - how do you regulate?

I got the same news a few years ago. My response was to amp up my dental hygiene by coming in for cleaning every 3 months for a year or so until it was under control. I also bought an (expensive) electric toothbrush and started using a non-alcohol based mouthwash twice a day. On the advise of...
