From total train wreck to beauty queen - picture heavy!

Inspiring! Thanks for posting your methods. I've got a Denicotea that could use the same treatment. Someday I'll do it.

    Land of the Shire

I bought the elf model for my son's birthday next week. That, and some Sutliff Spiced Rum tobacco since he like aros.

    The Cherrywood Poker

I see an ebay seller named roadkillbob65 who makes cherry pokers out of both cherry wood and apple wood. He calls them "Ropp copies". The bidding starts at $10.00 for most of the pipes. I might try to see if I can get one for under $20.00. I like my estate Ropp pipe, so another like it couldn't...

    New Orleans Smoking Ban

I wonder if these laws are required in order to secure federal funding of some sort?

Souvenier of a Failed Marketing Campaign

Do you have an ashtray with "Yes We Can" on it? :-)

    My First Estate: Amphora Xtra

I also bought an estate Amhphora Xtra but in a poker shape, stamped 815. I got it because I liked the shape and thought it would a be good restoration project. The shank was cracked and it has about 11 ugly fills. I fixed the crack, sanded it down and refinished it with a dark stain so the fills...

Souvenier of a Failed Marketing Campaign

As I was sorting through searches for estate pipes on eBay, I saw a picture of an ashtray with a locomotive surrounded by the words, “Marlboro Unlimited”. I’m interested in trains and tobacciana so I delved further into the origins of this ashtray. It turns out that back in the mid 1990s Phillip...

    Found a Pipe! Help?

Nice pipe! I wish I could stumble upon one like that. Was it in an antique store window?

    Messed up first restore

The only caveat I'd add to the freezer method is that the cold does make vulcanite brittle. I've had stems shatter in my hands. Just watch your grip and how you apply torque.

    Grabow Goodness

The old Doc Grabows are currently the most underrated pipes on eBay and yours looks great! They usually have nice grain, no flaws and the briar is aged to perfection. Has anybody ordered one of the new ajustomatics from the factory? I'd kind of like to see one before I shell out the bucks. I...

    A Question in Customer Service

Just because of momeerphil's post I'm going to order a "Cobbit" right now! It's great to have sponsors active in the forums.

    Missing The Days of Yesterday

If we could just go back to the 1700s when they wrote really good music! As I find myself nearing the 60 year old mark I also find myself waxing nostalgic at times. I wish I could have sent my own kids outside to play for the day merely telling them to come back for dinner around five o'clock...

    Purchase Duplicate Pipes?

Since most of my purchases are estate pipes I usually will only go for a duplicate if the new one is in better shape than the first. The two exceptions so far are my two Masterson Freehand pipes and my three Medico Jet Streams. Those were to aid in the rotation frequency as you said. When I...

    Yello Bole Micro Pipe

I dug through my drawer of Yello Bole pipes and found a "Pug". It has a different logo on the stem and what I think is a more unique "short snorter" type of shape. So I don't know. I just went to twist the stem off and see if has a stinger and it broke off in my hands! Oh well...It needed some...

    Yello Bole Micro Pipe

I got this "Group 0" KB&B Yello Bole sometime back. Does anyone know why a pipe this small would even be made? Was it some sort of salesman sample? Doesn't look like it's ever been smoked but it has been chewed on a bit.

My Wife Likes This LHS Pipe With H&H Fusiliers Ration

Very nice find! I've always got an eye peeled for one. Here's my newest LHS, a Stanhope.

    H&H what is your favorite?

WhiteKnight is also my favorite with Larry's Blend in second place right now. I bought a tin of Black House but I couldn't get the damn thing open. So I threw it in the cellar for aging.

Captain Bob's Blend: I am dissapointed...

I'm getting a mixed message here. You want everyone to have a shot getting the blend for good price but your realize by your actions it may be made unavailable? Hopefully you will be able to get things hashed out. I wouldn't worry about the tin art. I imagine most sales are by bulk anyway. I...
