Something About this Picture I Can't Quite Put my Finger On ;-)

I agree that troops need to know what they're doing before taking to field, but well planned training exercises should go beyond that level. If realistic training isn't important why not just train on virtual computer simulators? No camo required, nor would MOPP gear be needed for NBC...

Something About this Picture I Can't Quite Put my Finger On ;-)

Because improper use of camouflage doesn't camouflage. If your tactics involve camouflage, then you'd better have camouflage .

Something About this Picture I Can't Quite Put my Finger On ;-)

If training in an environment where camo is utilized, troops need to train with the appropriate camo. Consider a squad leader who knows where his squad is during training and then can't see his camouflaged squad at all when called up for combat duty? Consider what a aerial photo can teach a gun...

    Patty O'Furniture

Just kidding! Let's discuss patio furniture---the good, the bad and the ugly. I have a second hand set, "wrought" iron with an expanded steel top, given to me by my late sister (the good) after she got a new patio set. After 24 years, it could use a new coat of paint---maybe this Summer? This is...

Are Latakia Blends Better on the Moist Side?

Smoke some dry. Smoke some moist. Make up your own mind and see what you prefer.

I tend to judge a country by it's bread, cheese and beer.

    "Essential" Blends for a Beginner?

"Follow your whimsy." As Dorothy Sayer's character Lord Peter would say.

    We're Going to a Concert!

Gunhild Carling's Big Band is coming to town. This should be a hoot! It is so rare that we get a night out, much less attend a concert. Is there anyone else with date nights planned for this week end?

Czech Tool vs. ... Well, More Handsome Alternatives

Some tamper just tamp. I've often employed a length of wood simply lopped off the pruned branch of a fruit tree as an emergency tamper. I've also used my thumb, an empty .30WCF brass rifle casing, the bolstered end of a Schrade 31OT pocket knife and of course, the famous Czech. They all work...

    The Dungeness Among Us

I'm not sure what happened with the duplication on my end. I deleted and rewrote and somehow the deleted paragraphs returned from the dead! Or that I've responded to your12;15 post but your 1:03 post was quoted? I'm sorry I'm just not getting the hang of things around here

    The Dungeness Among Us

Title edited for caps. Rule 9. -jpm In the past, all you can eat crab fund raisers were looked forward to in my landlocked neck of the woods. I could not only support local charities but I could get my fill of crab. Crab could also be found on sale for around $7/lb and was the star of many...

Dreadnoughts (aka Diamond-Shanked, Banded, Bent Billiards)

I had one once, long ago. It was a Savory, if I recollect correctly. Sadly long gone and sorry, no pictures.

    Chain Saws

My Stihl came after owning three Huskys. All were very good chainsaws. The first was so good it got stolen. Then the second (replacement) got stolen. The third was a huge XP with a 32" bar which I picked up used since I figured it would probably get stolen as well. That thing (actually all...

    Chain Saws

Tomorrow I get to play with my chain saw, cutting up a bunch of 4" diameter Palos Verde limbs to fit into the green can. I have a Stihl MS 250 which is light and the perfect size and more than powerful enough for my homeowner chores. I really enjoy using it! Does anyone else here get joy from...
