Straight pipe or Curved pipe?
My favorite shape is a straight bulldog, but I definitely have more bents than straights, I like how they feel better -

I personally believe that as long as the construction is sound, it doesnt matter too much what they are made out of. If it smokes well smoke it. Anyone know how to build a cheap buffer?
I bought a 'dremel' from a true value tool shop, it was their own brand and it was 12 bucks, it spins extremely slow for a dremel, it worked quite well on some of my pipes, you do have to be careful, if you mess up for can nick the briar- jchaplick

Kwak beer glass stand as calabash pipe stand?
Thats what my calabash stand looks like, I would go for it, if its too smal just dremel it out a bit, problem solved. @Uber, you do just hang the pipe from it lol, just like those pictures- jchaplick

Mac Baren Virginia no. 1 Question
I smoke it all the time with little burn. It works the best if you you pull it right out of the tin and stuff it on the medium to tight side in a medium to small bowled pipe. I rarley have a problem with it biting, just keep trying- jchaplick

Thompson Cigar: not very pipe-smoker friendly
+1 on what the others have said, I use both P&C and smokingpipes. I usually make the same cart load at both sites and whatever is cheaper I order from them, I have to say it is a pretty even total at this point, they both have competitive prices.- jchaplick
