My Mouthpiece Smudges
I dont clean the outside of my stemss with alcohol so I couldnt tell you. But my vulcanite stems havent ever done that to me before. It could just be a cheap rubber stem, not real vulcanite- jchaplick

Ghosting
Personally I smoke PA about 6 times through a pipe to remove the ghosts, it hasnt failed yet. You should have an aromatics only pipe though, they are practically haunted, aros leave ghosts behind all the time, dont smoke them in your VA or english pipes- jchaplick

Alcohol Cleaning: Salt Vs. Cotton Ball
I apparently have a different reaction, I think the cotton ball method is easier, but the salt works better, I have noticed that the salt does a better job at removing ghost, more of the time. Drying your tobacco
I NEVER enjoy bone dry tobacco, I dont enjoy too moist tobacco either, there is a specific moisture content that I enjoy, and it holds true for just about every blend ive tried so far. 1792, five brothers, birdseye, and a few plugs and ropes are the HIGHEST I have tried, 1792 and 5 brothers were almost too much for me, great smokes but almost too much. Birdseye was the least strong, id saya 5 brothers the most. just my 2 cents- jchaplick
