Katy is Smoking a Kaywoodie Billiard with Sutliff Molto Dolce

KCghost I will take ALL of your unwanted cups of anything in that case. Beautiful woman. I'm afraid I've met my red head quota though with my wife. One in a lifetime is MORE then enough.

    Brand New to Pipe Smoking

Welcome Indy! Are you from Indiana or is that a different reference?

    Update from OleMissRebel

Good on you. I'm not a huge fan of straight Virginia's myself. I need some perique or orientals in there to give them some depth. EMP is some good stuff. It really opened me up to Orientals.

    First smoke Peterson System

I can make anything gurgle. Sometimes it's enough for me to knock my knuckle on the shank of the pipe lightly. I used to wonder if the fact that I take them from a 74 degree AC chilled house to the hot, humid Indiana heat causes some of that. But alas I'm just a puffer by nature. I've really...

    New guy probably posting wrong

Welcome! Youtube is a great resource just to see the basics. I love watching the videos from the pipe making companies and seeing their shops as well as some of the at home guys.. I know there's also a pipe makers forum with a shed load of info on the subject.

Never Bought Second Hand or Online Before?

Welcome to the forum! Not much to add, but I've picked up some great pipes from Marty at $35-$60. For a guy like me just getting into the hobby this past year he's been a big help. One suggestion I would add is to just ask if you've got a particular pipe you've got your eye on. If your...

    Good on you poppa!

Show Off Your Self-Made Pipes Here!

Just bumping this because I love looking at the talent and passion you guys have. I have zero talent and my passion is usually reserved for a certain chubby red head and cheeseburgers.

    Salt vs. Cotton Ball?

Yeah Smokey. I always give the bowl a bourbon wipe out and then a little bit of flame. It doesn't flame up, but it gets rid of whispies.

Favorite TIme of Day to Smoke

Outside right as night falls. I like watching the bats and my kids are still at age that they enjoy they run around catching fireflies and making sharp pointy stabby things out of sticks. I just like sitting there in a yard chair and watching them with a cup of coffee and a pipe.

    Three Of My Favorite Things

Good stuff. Zack. I still smoke on my Weber 22inch, but I've been getting into it enough that I'm thinking about grabbing a WSM or at least an prefab partition to get more space out of the Weber. And now you made me hungry for ribs at 9am.

    Savinelli Giubileo D'Oro Restore

Nice job as usual Al. Looks like that rim came out good with no rounding. Your making me itchy. My resto box is empty.

What Are You Smoking? August 2013

PS LBF in my R. Santia cob with a short glass of Knob Creek. I grilled some chicken, read a bit, and watched the kids catch grasshoppers and feed them to a big spider in the yard.

    Tobacco Suggestions?

Johnparker! Chelsea Morning is a very nice tobacco. You can really feel out the different flavors in it. I recently picked up a tin of Old Dublin *shakes fist at Sean and Jud* and I've been enjoying it but my allergies are keeping me from tasting it fully I think. Towards some Oriental...

    Gin and Tonic

Alex. See if you can grab a shooter of Tanq 10. Its a bit sweeter the the standard. I like it near frozen with an olive or two.

    Gin and Tonic

Me too. I tend to like them on the sweet side and prefer Tanqueray Ten lately. Just toss a lime slice in there and we're good. Ohin recommend some Latakia while drinking gin and it was good advice. The smokey flavor brings out the sweetness of the gin and the usual accompanying Orientals take...

I've Had Lengua Sandwiches Cooked Less Than This.

Some folks swear by Biotene. I find that staying hydrated is a big help in both tongue repair and keeping your taste buds working properly. It's hard in my coffee and bourbon/gin rich diet. Heh. Also one thing to keep in mind is what Fnord mentioned. Taking slow sips, little flavorful...
