    Low Grade Pipe Adventure #2

Big ditto on what Fnord said. Besides for $3.50 you've given yourself hours of enjoyment both in the restoration and smoking.

    Carnauba wax

Riffing off what Mike S. said. Halcyon does work well but use just a TINY bit. It can make a huge mess and likes to hide in rustication and nooks and crannies. It then dries an ugly whitish color. Tiny, tiny, bit goes a long way. IMO Carnuba wax lasts the longest and it's the hardest. Some...

    Stem Sticking

+1 for beef drippings also. These sorts of things need to be made into those Old Piper Wisdoms. "Back in my day we used beef drippings on our stems..."

    My first pipe project

Great job! I agree with the contrast staining thoughts. If you want a better look at the grain before you start, wet the pipe with a moist sponge. But DON'T try staining it until the pipe is completely dry to avoid uneven staining. It does look very organic. Also upside down it looks like...

Met a Pipe Smoker at Disney's Epcot

Funny I was there myself over the past two weeks. I didnt bother trying to smoke in the park itself (chasing 3 kids) but I did get a few bowls in during our cruise portion. Sadly you can no longer smoke on your balcony however. If you get off in Nassau, you can smoke nearly anywhere you like.

    Peterson St. Patty's 2014... And A Dilemma.

Anthony you're over thinking it. Keep your tradition, buy the pipe...then give it to me since you don't like it. I have to admit, it doesn't trip my trigger either. That darn Hopkins from the Sherlock Holmes series keeps calling me....when I resist it reminds me that the Kinsale line is...

    Check out this cob site

I have one. I think I paid about $80 for it. I was worried that it would smoke hot because of the treated bowl but I've been happy with it. He was a great guy to deal with.

    The Countries I Lack

Shalom was out of Israel. I know they made Alphas and I think Mastersen. I've heard good things about Alphas and you used to be able to get them fairly cheap as estates.
