    Too many pipe cleaners!!!

Never have too many, as they don't have an expiration date. I bought a good supply ,a whole case, a few years ago and am still using those. Don't think I've purchased a pipe cleaner in about 4 years. But I'm always looking for a good deal on them and would purchase another large lot if I can...

What's The Difference? (Rhodesian or Bulldog)

This one always causes a controversy, All-Be-It a friendly one. To my thinking a Bulldog shape has the square/diamond shank and a Rhodesian the round. But as unclearthur said, guess it's what ever the maker calls it. :)

    First crack at a rack

Pretty good idea........ What are the extra holes for? Making racks is something I did for a while too. I have one of my own making and design too.

    Wife-Gotta love er

My wife is the same...... although I've had to teach her a bit about pipes. She used to look at a pipe based on the look and nothing else. When I took up the pipe she bought me my first tobacco. It was two different cheap aromatics from Wal-Mart and I still have most of both. But it's the...

    Do You Haggle With Carvers?

I don't find anything wrong with haggling. I learned it running flea mkts with my parents when I was 8 or 9. I judge whether I will haggle on an item by the starting price point of the item. If it's already a good deal, I'll usually won't even try. But I decide on a sale to sale basis.

    Band saws...suggestions

I have an older 12" Craftsman and wouldn't trade it for anything. I've had it quite a few years and never had a problem with it. I can also buy the blades at Lowes or Home Depot and they won't break the bank. My suggestion is to watch Craigslist in your area and to go as big as you can afford...

    estate cleaning tips?

Murphy's oil soap for cleaning the wood and any buildup on the rim. If there is heavy buildup on the rim, I use a Q-tip and dip it in the Murphy's and then apply a thick coat on the buildup. I let it set for a few minutes and then use a Q-tip dipped in alcohol to wipe that off. I repeat as...

    Coming soon from this pipesmoker

Yep, PME is a great place. I made a trip out to Phoenix a few years ago and was able to visit. They were very easy and helpful to deal with. Boot, good luck on your venture. Making pipes is a lot of fun and when your done, you have something to smoke that you made yourself. :)

This is probably the best hobby ever

And there are so many parts to it for myself. There are the wonderful and relaxing times while setting in a canoe on the river, the ripple of the water over the rocks, the birds singing their sweet songs and a nice bowl of good baccy. The time spent in the shop carefully bringing an old (almost...

Nice and congratulations on the great gifts to yourself. You really do love yourself....... But don't think we better go any farther than saying that. :)

    Buffing Wheel

You can actually use any electric motor with the arbor. I think they make theirs with an insert so you can use the two popular sizes and when I make one, I just make it and drill to fit the motor being used.

Tampers...tools of the trade....so whatcha like?

More tampers I've made, some I use, some I've gifted or sold.

Tampers...tools of the trade....so whatcha like?

I've got several different kinds. Some I made, some are pipe nails of different types, tampers made by others, czech tools and also the ones built into lighters. I also have a nice, still in the box Gerber pipe tool from the 70's probably and a still in the box Sheffield like unclearthur was...

Smoking a bowl of Baily's Front Porch in a Peterson Roselare Rhodesian. And WOW..... It's raining and cooler this morning.

    Buffing Wheel

4" buffing wheels will work, but I'd opt for bigger ones so that you have a slower running wheel and also have more surface area, some people even double them to increase the surface area even more. I'd also say that you should get the kit for putting on an electric motor (Prefer one that is at...

Want to try making your own pipe?

Bob, the St. Louis Airport is about 125 miles from me. If I could work it out to pick up people and drop them back off close together, I may even be able to arrange some transportation.

    Buffing Wheel

Also, remember, you need a different buffing wheel for each compound and another for the carnuba. I usually follow the carnuba with a clean buff just for cleaning up the shine.
