    Complimented for Smoking a Pipe

Get compliments all the time and I smoke mostly english blends......... The best thing we can do when complimented is to try to strike up a conversation with the complimentors. It's one way we can discuss pipe smoking, making people aware of the fact that it's something we enjoy and that...

How many pipes do you own?

I really have no idea....... especially if I counted the ones in the shop awaiting refurb. Plus most of the pipes I was smoking are still packed up from our move almost a year ago....... If I had to guess, I'd say somewhere between 250-300 pipes or so. I have a cabinet that I made that will...

Looking forward to seeing it.... where did you get the wood. I'm alwas looking for other woods for tampers, mostly.

    Pipe making - drill bits.

I use Modified spade bits, Ball nosed end mills and also some regular drill bits. But I cut the shank off my spade bits and use the short version......... Just seems more steady, whether it is or not. I then use tapered bits on the stems and a good quality brad point 5/16 and 5/32 bit on the...

Why did you start smoking a pipe?

Peer Pressure! :) Just kidding...... I saw how relaxed my buddy was when he floated down the river in his canoe followed by the delicate smoke eminating from his pipe. I thought how content he looked and thought, "Why Not?" So talked to him, he showed me a little bit about loading the pipe he...

    Prepping used pipe racks?

Awwwwwwe Man, you stole my answer! That is what I'd do with them as well..... Just make sure to wipe them after the Murphy's with a damp cloth.

Some of the Pipe Furniture that I've made!

uberam3rica, Actually retired that one and made one about twice as big and at one point I had it almost full. I've cut back a bit and since moving haven't used the cabinet. But I have my office/man cave about finished and will be putting one of the cabinets in there, most likely the one I...

Some of the Pipe Furniture that I've made!

When I first started smoking a pipe, I dabbled in all things pipes. Being from a crafty family that is used to making things, I started out making tampers. Then I started making a few pipe racks. The usual type first, then some cabinets and finally a pipe rack of my own design. As you all look...

    What fuel in your Zippo!

    What Did You do Today?

Spent most of the day working on my new office. When we bought this new place I pulled a Motorhome out that was built into the house and there was a concrete floor under it, so I framed in the area and made a laundry room in the back area and an office space in the front. Wife told me that I...

    What fuel in your Zippo!

Many people love their Zippo lighter and I'm one of those. I did however lose touch with my Zippo for a while after we moved. I recently found it packed away and have started using it again and did miss it. I know many used the old fluid and many loved it when they went to the new formula due to...

    Is this pipe worth anything?

I collect the gadget metal pipes and have several examples. I do have one of those, but only with the insert that is in it. My guess, worth whatever you can get someone to pay for it. I'd say worth probably $30-$40 if you find someone looking for one for their collection. (Again, just a guess)

    A thesmokindragon Tamper Review

It's a natural progression Dragon, least it was for me. I started with tampers, first of Deer Antler, then started making metal tips for them. Then started making tampers from various woods and other materials. I still make them sometimes when I'm in the mood, but pipe making is now what I work...

    Wish You all were here!

Truthfully, I am there, not that exact location, but I have a place in the yard that I'd describe just like that. Just like camping, except you get to go in to a nice bed after the fire. :)

Cleaning the outside of a pipe bowl

For really dirty pipes, I use Murphy's oil soap full strength. I put a light coating on using a Q-tip and then after a minute or two, I follow that with a cloth with alchohol on it. This will remove any residue from the Murphy's. As said, it will dull the finish, but if you do these steps with...
