What was or is your most relaxing time you've smoked or smoke?
My most enjoyable would have to be anytime I'm floating down the river in my canoe or kayak, or when I'm sharing a smoke with another pipe smoker I've just met and am getting to know better. :)- smokindawg

Recent Ammo Tampers!
Chispa, not sure I could do the spoon tool.......... Not inserted in the tamper without making the tamper itself too big. I may however be able too make the opposite end a bit spoon shaped rather than rounding it over. I'll have to think on that one some more. The pick did work like I saw it...- smokindawg

Recent Ammo Tampers!
I made a couple more tampers using the ammo casings yesterday. The blue one with white swirls is something I've been toying with for a while, in my head anyway. It's got a stainless steel internal pick. It is drilled and installed just like the stem on the pipes I make. I drilled a 1/4"...- smokindawg

No matter the blend I store unopened tins as I buy them. Bulks and opened tins, I store in jars. I do have a couple pounds of FVF still in the box wrapped from the factory and then stored in a freezer zip lock bag. Last time I opened one it was in fantastic shape. Yea, luckily I traded an extra lathe I had a while back for a mini mill....... it's big enough to make the jaws I use and other doo dads. (Tools handy for making pipes)- smokindawg

1" x 8 isn't rinky dink........ In fact it's a pretty standard thread on a lot of lathes. A 4" wood scroll chuck would work great and jaws are easy enough to make for one. It's what I'm using and I made the jaws from aluminum and they work great. Probably stronger than the chuck and it's strong...- smokindawg

I recently had someone send me some large caliber cartridges that he wanted me to make into some tampers for him. I didn't like the way the tampers looked with the full length brass so I took a tubing cutter and cut the brass down and made these three tampers. I still need too epoxy the brass...- smokindawg

Photoman, unless it's a good drill, I don't know if you'll get enough oomph too polish well. That and drills aren't really meant to run continuous as long as it will take to buff stems and pipes. Least I wouldn't do it. Buy a cheap grinder from Harbor Freight. I use electric motors with arbors...- smokindawg
