I used to listen to an entertaining radio program called "Can You Top This?" Listeners sent in their funniest jokes each week, which provided a lot of laughs.
I wonder if a thread that involved pipe smoking-related outrages that have been encountered might turn out to be a modern-day kind of "entertainment"?

A gorilla walks into a B&M, picks out a nice corncob and hands the clerk a $20 bill.

Figuring the gorilla wouldn't know any better, the clerk gives him only $5 in change

and says, "You know, we don't see too many gorillas in here buying pipes."

The gorilla replies, "For what you charge I can understand why."

I bought a pipe I liked so much I didn't want it wrapped, I wanted to carry it just as it was. Then I stopped in at another store near the pipe shop. A woman in the store saw me with the empty pipe that had never been smoked and became hysterical.

Once I was stopped by a cop while smoking my pipe and walking around a nearby city. The officer was convinced I had my bowl packed full of marijuana and that my story about it being pipe tobacco was bollocks. As i sat on the curb calmly waiting for the officer to realize his folly, a second officer (the first's partner) engaged me in pipe related conversation (he had recognized the stop as a farce before the arresting officer had even pulled over). We discovered that we shared a love of Churchwardens, Fantasy novels, and the gorgeous cashier at the local tobacco shop we both frequented. This lasted for about 20 minutes before the arresting officer begrudgingly released me with my pipe. I joked with the officer that had conversed with me a bit more then went on my way in a little bit cheerier mood.
