Drunken Poker Finished! (Not For Sale)

First of all, the pipe smokes fantastic... I actually had to pack it a bit tighter than I usually do. Not sure if it was because of the depth, or that I got the drilling spot on. Either way, it's a great smoking pipe. The guy that commissioned the pipe did see it and loved the shape. So...... I...

Drunken Poker Finished! (Not For Sale)

This is a pipe I started as a commission. When I had it about done, I ran into a large flaw and so the shape went in a different direction. It became what you see now. When I got it to this point, I found a crack running all the way across the bottom. I tend to finish pipes I start as they are...

How far down do you smoke?

Till there is no more smoke and nothing but ash in the bottom of the bowl. :)

    Pipe racks

I can make a good looking pipe cabinet that holds 40 or so pipes and have a couple shelves for tobacco storage for about $40, glass in the doors and all. So I'm not going to overpay for a single rack. I prefer my cabinets too. :)

    Finding a Good Knife

A knife I carry is one I like a lot. It's easy to sharpen and pretty tough too. Gerber folding box knife! Cost me $10 at Wal-Mart and you can buy the replacement blades in the 100 count pack. Plus, the blade flips around so that you actually get two good uses from one blade. And it's perfect...

St. Louis Gateway Pipe Show 2012

Irishsmoker, while your wandering around, you'll find my buddy and I, each having a table. I'll be easy to find. I'll be the one on crutches with his leg in a cast. I'm sure someone will be able to rustle you up a couple estate pipes.

    Deertongue

A few years ago I bought some blends and some blenders from a guy. In amoungst that was about a Pint jar of deer tongue. I have used it a couple times to enhance a blend I didn't really care for. In that bunch was also some Latakia and some perique. I still have most of those including the deer...

    First Attempt

Seth, you'll find that as you get deeper into refurbing/cleaning pipes that you'll run across stems with a lot more oxidation than on that one. I was recently turned onto micro-mesh for sanding stems. This is something you'll have to get into to remove bigger nicks and tooth marks. I have been...

    Reamers

Ebay is a good place to find the British Buttners. Usually quite a few on there and priced good. It's good to have a good selection of reamers if you do a lot of refurbs, because not all pipes are created equal when it comes to reaming. There are lots of different bowl types.

    Awesome Pipe rack

Cool, but way over priced. Should be about $30 at most....... least for my thoughts anyway.

    Reamers

I have the senior set and like it, but it doesn't do well on the bottoms of the pipes, so I follow this with the Pipe-Net like you have. It does a good job on the bottom of the bowl. I also have a British Buttner that works great on bowls with angled walls.

St. Louis Gateway Pipe Show 2012

Yep............ almost time. I'm still looking forward to it, although I'll not be walking around much this year. More like hobbling around.

Just a Little update. How r u guys?

Last couple weeks.......... Broke my leg, working on trying to get ready for upcoming pipe show, trying to get a mobile home sold, resting in the recliner a lot. Short and sweet! :)

    First Attempt

When your beginning your start into refurbing pipes my suggestion is too always start with cheap pipes that you don't have a sentimental investment in or that aren't expensive pipes. Purchase a batch of cheap pipes on ebay, or anywhere else you can buy a few pipes all at one time. I'd stay away...

    New Guy with Question

Order a sampler......... Get an English, a Vaper, and a Virginia blend. These will help to get you started as far as types of blends that you may enjoy.

Mail Carrier is afraid of my house.

A postman can choose to leave a package or not. If it won't fit in the box they don't have to leave it. If they are afraid of your dogs, that is plenty of reason to not leave it. Luckily when we bought this place in the country there was already a big box on the road. Haven't had many boxes...

    Avatar? I give up!

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not. I had one avatar on my profile for a while and it never showed. So, I added a different one just now and I still can't get it to show in my posts. When I go to my profile, it does show there, as it did before. Any ideas? I really want to get it...
