On taking advantage or on pipe racks ? ;-)
Pipe racks: re-purpose other stuff, thrift stores or Bay of E.

The rest: no comment :puffy:

To me this goes hand in hand with the How Much Would You Pay For A Pipe? thread.
That particular pipe rack doesn't impress me. I could buy a decent cabinet to store all of my tobacco and properly display all my pipes for that amount of money.
But it wouldn't have the Davidoff name on it.
Not my cup of tea, maybe someone elses. No advantage taken because I can make up my own mind about how much something is worth to me. :puffy:

You pay fo the capital D and the avidoff with everything you buy from Davidoff. Even the cigars they make are outrageously priced. Zino's blue blood is still flowing.

I agree that anything with the name "Davidoff" on it is going to command a pretty penny. It is the same way with anything labeled "Dunhill." It is a quality product and a work of art, but there are going to be many that can't justify paying the price tag. For the serious collector or pipe afficianado, Im sure that it would be worth it. Me, personally? I have four racks that hold a total of 40 briars, and those racks came in at a combined total of $60.

I can make a good looking pipe cabinet that holds 40 or so pipes and have a couple shelves for tobacco storage for about $40, glass in the doors and all. So I'm not going to overpay for a single rack. I prefer my cabinets too. :)

Well, everyone seems to be in agreement, that the price is too high. If that is truly the case, then we won't see this available next year. Having taken a quick look for the first time (this is my first post here!) I see that the other wooden racks that hold 6 pipes are under $50. Does this rack hold 6 pipes better than the others? No, I suspect they are all held up off the table equally well. However...... as a wood worker artist who makes a living by making high end objects, I recognize that this rack stands apart from the others. The fact that we are even talking about it shows that the design is worthy of notice. I think it's very elegant, and the finish looks impeccable. Don't get me wrong, I can't afford it either! But I do understand the price. It's darn hard to make a single board, flat, parallel, square, sand and finish for under a hundred bucks and make a living by doing it. I'm not talking about hobby wood workers, but those who have to pay for the shop, the insurance, heat, elect. etc with what they make as craftsmen. It makes stuff expensive, and not everyone can afford it. If I had the excess to afford it, I would buy it in a second!
