    Chipped with a pipe cleaner!

Probably not a way to easily fix it and have it hold. You could put a softee bit on it, smoke it as is or, best case, send it off for a new stem. I have a large Cellini Original Cherrywood and love it. It would be worth a new stem to me.

    Today At The B&M

I'm going to say "Poker" Usually a cherrywood won't have a straight shank. Just having an angled bottom doesn't make it a cherrywood shape. Either way you did well. The older handmades under the kriswell name are some nice smokers and usually lighter pipes. And being a handmade pipe, you did...

    Stem Whistling

Yep, most likely it's the drilling it's one thing I check for when I make a pipe. It's usually just a piece of stem material from the drilling. But a step in the drilling can cause it as we'll. I work the interior a bit with needle files near the tenon end and with a little time can make the...

    New Gifted to me Pipe!

Thanks guys. I've let her read this thread and it made her smile. I already drilled her another block and she is working up a design using that kit. I'll post what she comes up with.

    First Time Smoking in Public

I've been smoking in public almost from the start and can't remember hearing even one negative remark aimed at me or the pipe. The typical remark is: wow look he's smoking a pipe, it's been a long time since I saw someone smoking a pipe and Oh, that pipe smells good.

If You Are/Have Been A Pipe Maker Or Owned A Pipe Shop

Photoman13, sorient don't know that your comments are deserved but I appreciate them just the same. I actually got some shop time yesterday and worked up a pipe. I was trying for a devil anse type pipe but ended up with a billiard nose warmer instead. LOL

If You Are/Have Been A Pipe Maker Or Owned A Pipe Shop

Many here know me and know I make the occasional pipe. Been known to make a tamper or two as well. I even ventured into making pipe racks and cabinets as well. I did make some decent racks and cabinets but just didn't enjoy it as much as pipe and tamper making.

    First pipe craft attempt

Even cheap briar will make a good smoking pipe. And cheap briar is what I'd be using until I had some experience under my belt. Won't make you cry near as much if you kill a block. Not bad at all for your first try. I started out making pipes using a dremel and it works well. Keep at it Your...

    Experience With JR Cigars

I've not purchased from them online, but I'm in NC quite often for work and stop in to the Burlington store every time I'm close. Which lately has kept me from running out of cigars. As for tobacco, they don't keep a big selection, but I've noticed that their prices are competetive.

Is the owner of my B&M not as bright as I thought?

Romeos has "Employees?" as in plural? I haven't been there in about a year and he's moved since I was, but didn't know he had hired any help! LOL There are always a great group of guys hanging out there though just about any time you go in. Where has he moved by the way? As for the draft hole...

    First tamper finished; 10/1/12

Carnuba wax is the wax most use on pipes and is what I apply to both my pipes and the tampers I make. It really gives a great shine. You need a buffing wheel to apply it though as it's pretty hard stuff. Keep up the great work on the tampers. That one looks great but as suggested, I'd remove as...

    A Huge Thank You!!!!

Very nice. All those tins will do well with age, so unless you just want to try one, I'd go with the samples in baggies first. Even though I've seen it over and over, it never ceases to amaze me at how generous the fellow pipe smoker can be. Congrats to you tjameson and Kudos on you Chris for...

    New Pipe Zippo.

Grizzly, how far are you from Springfield? I'm up there about once a month when I'm home. Take the wife up monthly for her treatments. I used to stop into Just For Him every trip, but lately haven't been making the stop. Think it's time I started again. My wife actually bought me my first...

    Questions About A Pipe Cabinet

Yep, if you have the experience and the tools then a build it yourself is the way to go. You get a lot more for your money and can make it exactly what you really want.

Would Love To See Your Poker Pipes!

I've got a few poker/cherrywood shapes, but I'm not home right now, so can't show pics. I also enjoy making the shape and have made a few of them in the past.

My latest attempt at pipe carving.

Papatoad, I feel your pain. Takes a lot of time and practice to get them right. I'm learning, slowly and staying at it, not giving up is what it takes.

    Lets do another tamper trade.

Your welcome. Glad it arrived safely. I won't get to ogle mine till I get home. Guess I should ask the wife if it arrived.

    Lets do another tamper trade.

Anyone else get their tampers and want to shout out? I don't know if mine came or not as I'm working out of town for a week or so. Guess I should ask my wife about it.

EBAY: Lessons Learned and How Not to Get Burned

Following such rules is a good idea. I've only been burned once and it wasn't on pipes. Bidding safe and asking a lot of questions is a good idea. That being said, if your willing to take a few chances you can really make some good purchases at great prices. I'm more the take a chance/ betting...

    Lets do another tamper trade.

Winton, thanks for all the work that you put into this swap.... I know how much can go into it as I've done a couple now. Thanks for taking it over this time around. I hope that everyone has had fun making their tampers and that they all enjoy the tampers that they get in exchange for their...
