Chris is indeed a pleasure to deal with. He does fantastic work on his pipes. I've also met him in person and he's a hoot to talk too as well

Questions on Make Your Own Pipes

You don't have to use a finish, the pipe will color as you smoke and handle it. More from the handling I think than the actual smoking of it. Many people like a natural pipe with no finish. Not knowing how the wood you have will look, show a picture after you've got your pipe made and ask the...

Cuttys and Canadians where are they?

Just don't seem to see as many cutty shapes as others, but there are so many different shapes. I make a cutty on occasion and the shape is fun as well as looks good. Good luck on your hunt.

    Maybe a Churchward...

Go for something with two stems if you can, that way you have the best of both worlds. You can smoke the long stem when your setting watching TV or reading and use the shorter stem when your out and about.

Well, I'm heading out from here this morning some time and plan on driving thru to Tulsa, about 650 miles. I'll stay the night and then meet up with a couple pipe smokers I know from that area Saturday some time in the morning before driving the rest of the way home. Can you tell I enjoy...

    Smoking at the workplace?

When I worked a regular job I would take my pipe with me and smoke it during lunch or before work. (I always got there at least 1/2 hour early. I found that it caused me to slow my pace a bit and actually relax just a little bit and 1/2 hour was enough time for a bit of relaxation. Now I travel...

    Met Up With Forum Member!

On Tuesday I posted that I'd be in the Albuquerque area on Wednesday. I offered to meet up with forum members and smeig (Chad) took me up on the offer. He called yesterday and we made plans to meet at Stag Tobacconists in the evening. I found the shop and met up with Chad and his dad. I also...

    Share a smoke in Albuquerque?

I left the house in Missouri this morning for Albuquerque for work. I'll be in the area for a few days, arriving this evening. If anyone on the forum is in the area and wants to get together for dinner and a smoke while I'm there, send me a PM and I'll give you my phone number. I love meeting...

    Billiard Nosewarmer! Not For Sale!

Thanks for the positive remarks my friends. I do plan on making more nosewarmers in the future and maybe even some smooth finish if I find the right pieces of briar.

    Billiard Nosewarmer! Not For Sale!

I use grout mixture to raise the bottom of bowls when drilled too deep and also to repair partial burnouts. It works well and that is what I did with this pipe.

    Billiard Nosewarmer! Not For Sale!

Yep, Dremel is what I used. Well flyfishn, I would have rathered it turn out all good, but can't win them all. :)

    Billiard Nosewarmer! Not For Sale!

First of all, this pipe is "Not For Sale"! I was working on trying to make a Devil Anse pipe but didn't look at a picture before I started and didn't even get close. It turned into a Billiard Nosewarmer. But still is a decent looking pipe. The briar however had a couple pretty bad flaws. One...

Getting a FREE Ruger 10/22 Takedown!!!!

I've had a regular 10/22 for about 25 years now and love it. If I had a chance to get a takedown I'd jump on it. Congratulations.

    Chipped with a pipe cleaner!

If its only a small chip another thing you can do is to get the files out. File the stem off removing the button and chip. File it back to a thicker part of the stem (You want enough thickness to form a new button) and then shape a new button. You can look at another pipe to figure out the...

    Lets do another tamper trade.

John you probably won't have to wait long. These swaps are fun. I got my tamper a while back while out of town. It's great and looks just like the picture. Also included we're samples of Billy Budd, Mississippi Mud and haddos delight. I enjoyed them all but the mud would be my favorite pick of...

    Daughters and Ryan?

I've actually had a taste of several of the blends. While lighter in taste the ones I've tried were all good. I bought about twenty tins at a silent auction a few years ago and have them in the cellar. I've also talked to the owner on several occasions and he is indeed owner of a perique...
