Ahhh.... but pretty soon.... pretty soon "they" will pay YOU to do it, if you get any good at it. Then the big money. The women. The lifestyle. You know.
Pimo has a tenon cutter that i started out with I think i paid $20 back in the mid-nineties. If I can find it, you can have it but a lathe is faster and a bit more accurate. Check out www.leevalleytools.com for their taig lathe its a mini machine lathe often used for turning custom pens. You could conceivably turn a small pipe bowl on this as well with a 4 way chuck.
Photoman13, sorient don't know that your comments are deserved but I appreciate them just the same.
I actually got some shop time yesterday and worked up a pipe. I was trying for a devil anse type pipe but ended up with a billiard nose warmer instead. LOL
Thanks guys for the compliments! I just made a couple pipes for myself to prove I could do it. I was happy with the one in that post so I never tried making another.... But it kind of gets in your blood and I was recently given a nice block of briar so I'll soon be starting on a new one. Don't hold your breath for pictures though because I'm a slooowww worker. I like to take my time and enjoy the journey.
There is alot of fine craftsmen on this forum. One of the many reasons I like it so much.
I think it's clear to me know, I need to make a pipe. This is the same feeling I had when I got into guitar repairs and mods. I'm already handy with estates, this is the logical next step. Lol...
Time to start studying!
