    Bradley's Strawberry

Thanks Gents ! These two were a learning experience for me as well Jim. First time I've worked with Strawberry. It's lighter and softer and the grain is just crazy! Brad wanted an Author-- 2 1/2 tall, which it is. Since Authors are basically round it didn't turn out to look like an Author. It...

    Bradley's Strawberry

Bradley contacted me a few weeks ago about making him a strawberry pipe. He ended up asking for two, this one and a poker. The poker isn't done yet but sent this one to him a few days ago and he got it today. Told me I coould post pics as mine were better than his. He did send me this...

    Pipe Smoking Hangable Offences!!!

I know another gent who has been known to put his pipes in a sink full of soapy water to clean them. I have used soap and water and a toothbrush to scrub nasty rusticated estates keeping the bowl down to keep the chamber as dry as possible. Never any problems. My "hanging" offense might be that...

    Found Pipe

Since the stem is so heavily oxidized I'd use the bleach also. It may leave the surface of the stem pitted but they will sand out easily enough. I like the shape of that pipe--love panels !

Draw too tight, even after opening... solution?

I kinda figured it was a typo or something. I love those tapered 5/32" bits.

    refinishing Pipe questions

After reading you OP again I see you do have a buffer. Why not get an extra wheel or two and some white diamond buffing compound,it would save some sanding and time. Sand it to 800 or 1000 and buff with the white diamond and it will shine like a new penny before it is even waxed !

    refinishing Pipe questions

Briar,if finished properly does not need any sort of varnish or lacquer to make it shine. The factories use it to hide sanding scratches, fills and poor grain. If you do not have a buffer you can still put a nice shine on your pipes with sandpaper and/or Micro Mesh. Start with 360-400 grit and...

    Re-shaping new pipes?

Salt and alcohol is used inside the bowl--not on the outside. Since you're going to be reshaping these you best bet I'd say is just to sand the stain off.

    Tamper exchange

Got my tamper from the Derfatdutchman today--along with a tin of Orlik Golden Slices. I was pleasantly surprised by both. First off, the tamper is shorter than I thought it was. Looked longer in the pics above. It's a perfect pocket tamper !It has a good heft which I like and is very well made ...
