    Recent TAD Pick-Ups

My Country Squire order came in, got some Mirkwood and a couple of ounces of Shepherds Pie and Ruins of Windsor to fill up some jars.

Cornell & Diehl Small Batch - From Beyond

I only bought one tin, that was a major mistake on my part. I thoroughly enjoyed that tin, I hope to get another chance someday.

Last bowl of tobacco for 2022

I’m working tonight, so when I get off at 5 I’ll be smoking my last bowl of Figgy Pudding as my first smoke of 2023.

    Drucquer Sale?

There was one recently, I want to say it was late November or early December? I believe it preceded the GL Pease/C&D dual sale.

Your Blend Of The Year 2022

2022 was a big year of sampling for me. 1000+ hours of overtime gave me countless chances for commuter smoking sessions and the extra $$$ to fund them! I’ve stumbled across plenty of new blends and blenders to keep me occupied. Some honorable mentions would be Country Squire Northwest Trek and...

    Recent TAD Pick-Ups

The Squire got their pocket jars back in stock so I nabbed a couple of samples while I was at it.

    Maple Poker Missouri?

I have several MM hardwoods, they smoke great and are very durable.

The Country Squire Fans - Let's Talk

P.S.Blend is on my radar to try. Every time Northwest Trek (a favorite of mine) gets mentioned someone always brings up P.S. Blend as a comparable blend.

Will Your Cellar be Viable For The Long Haul?

If my smoking habits remain as they are I have enough at home to last me roughly 4-5 years. I’ll surely accumulate more, but I don’t really have any intent to accumulate significantly more than that. I may change my mind, but since I’m stockpiling as a hedge against online purchasing...

The Country Squire Fans - Let's Talk

I'm with you there. I absolutely love Countryside and I so wanted to like Bear blend, the bag aroma is sooo good. But its just not there in the flavor. Its not a knock on them, that's 99.9% of aromatics for me.

The Country Squire Fans - Let's Talk

Figgy Pudding is the only aromatic I've found besides Wilke Vermont Maple that actually tastes like something. Shepherds Pie and Angry Cornishman are very pleasant everyday English blends, as is Bag End though it is a bit mild for my smoking tempo. Northwest Trek defies convention and is just an...

    The dreaded demise.......

I’d have some sort of plan in mind. If it’s a blend you can’t bear to be without then cellar all you can afford, or have some alternatives in mind should the dreaded day ever come.

    What’s a church warden like?

I’d tell you about them, but it’s a long story *ba dum psh* But seriously, I do most of my smoking while driving and having a long pipe allows me to light my pipe and watch the road at the same time. And they are just flat out aesthetically pleasing to me.

    PSA for all Pipers

Three pages in and no Piper Perry memes. Good job gentlemen 😄

    Whatcha Smokin' for the Holidays?

I’ve got a hefty jar of last years Watch City Elf Dandruff I’ve been chipping away at here and there. The holidays this year has me on a comfort blend kick, so I’ve been hitting the Northwest Trek, Shepherds Pie, and Countryside pretty hard. I’ve got some Figgy Pudding coming tomorrow to add to...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2022?***

Boswell’s Countryside in a Peterson 2022 Christmas on the way to another night shift

Is there any kind of guide to C&D?

I’ve smoked my way through a hefty portion of their roster in the past 20+ years of being a loyal C&D customer. Read through some descriptions and find 4-5 that sound like they might tickle your fancy and dive in. Once you find a couple you like just branch out and try other similar blends until...

    Packing pipes for days

On days that I'm working I will usually pack my 2 commuter smokes the night before. I smoke one on the way to work, and one on the way home. Sometimes if I wind up drying more tobacco than I need I will just pack the rest into another pipe and set it aside to smoke later.

    Bulk English

My absolute favorite bulk English lineup is : C&D Mountain Camp, Watch City The Churchwarden, and Wilke Crystal Palace and #400. I’m a newcomer to Wilke, but man do they make some great English blends!

Cellaring: How Much is Too Much?

I smoke roughly an ounce per week. If I stopped buying tobacco today my stash would last me about 4-5 years at that rate. I’m trying to whittle down 6-8 blends to cellar deeply, not to age them per se but to garner against extinction of my favorites. Blends or entire blending houses can vanish...
