    Recent TAD Pick-Ups

Had to hit the Black Friday sale a little early…

What would be your 2022 Holiday Blend?

For this holiday season I've resumed smoking my way through my jar of last year's Watch City Elf Dandruff. I can't wait to see what he does this year.

    Hello from Louisiana

    Welcome from Zachary, LA!

    Your "No Fuss/Go To" Tobacco?

C&D Mountain Camp, Country Squire Northwest Trek and Cowboy Coffee are my quick load 'em and go selections.

    Tea and tobacco pairings

I dunno what it is, but chai and any heavy Latakia blend is a magical combination.

I'm Becoming A Seasonal Pipe Smoker.

I smoke within the cozy confines of my Subaru, where the weather is always conducive to smoking. Now the type of tobacco is often dependent on the season. I had a bowl of Wilkes #111 today and I couldn't help but think "I can't wait to smoke this next summer".

    Favorite Wilke blends?

I placed a second sampler order and picked up some Peanut Butter, Lizzie Blood Red English, Rum & Maple, and #111. I’ve been super impressed with my first round of samples.

    C&D Oriental Silk

I’d set it aside and let it rest for a week or two. The perique does jump out front in a fresh sample, the orientals should pop better after a little breathing time.

    Presbyterian or Shepherd's Pie?

I've skipped Hunting Creek based on first and second hand reviews, I think it would veer too hard to the aromatic end of the spectrum for me whereas Northwest Trek still packs plenty of latakia and burley flavor with an aromatic sweetness. I do not think you will be disappointed with Shepherds Pie.

    Presbyterian or Shepherd's Pie?

If you are ordering some SP pick you up an ounce or two of Northwest Trek and Angry Cornishman, those might be to your liking as well.

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2022?***

Beautiful Fall morning here in Louisiana, enjoying a big bowl of Cowboy Coffee in a MacQueen Tavern Churchwarden.

    Favorite Wilke blends?

Wilke sells a 4 blend sampler pack, you pick the 4 blends you want.

    Favorite Wilke blends?

Well I got my first sampler in the mail yesterday, had a bowl of Jackson on the way to work this morning. Fantastic! I can’t wait to delve into these other samples, I’ll be trying Crystal Palace on the drive home.

    Favorite Wilke blends?

That’s actually what prompted me to start this thread. Their repertoire is so extensive I was hoping to get some insight.

    Favorite Wilke blends?

Rum and Maple almost made it in the order, I definitely see it making the cut on a second order.

    Favorite Wilke blends?

As the title suggests, what is your favorite Wilke blend(s)? I’ve only recently began to delve into their ginormous catalog and placed a sampler order. I went for 4 picks that seemed as though they would hit pretty safely in the ol wheelhouse (#13, #192, Jackson, and Crystal Palace). I find...

    Sunset Harbor Flake

+1 on SOTEG and Super Balkan, they are both outstanding. Regular Star of the East also has a hefty dose of orientals and is worth a try. I’d also recommend GLP Caravan, possibly my favorite oriental forward blend. I hear you on From Beyond, I didn’t get it at first but it really grew on me! I’ve...

    Pipe Flavor Terms?

I’ve came across a myriad of “sweet” flavors in tobacco. I’ve had orientals that have tasted like cane sugar, some like honey. I’ve had virginias that tasted like baked goods, everything from doughnuts to cinnamon rolls. There’s been fruits, molasses, and god only knows what other flavors my...
