Refurbishing a 1947 Patent Dunhill Shell Briar

Oxi-clean hasn't arrived yet, but I've managed to ream and clean up the stummel. Sadly some chuncks have been taken out of the rim by someone else's reaming knife :(

Refurbishing a 1947 Patent Dunhill Shell Briar

Thanks for the input! the pipe is arriving tomorrow along with some sandpaper, a multi-head reamer, and some oxi-clean. I think I'm going to keep this restoration fairly minimal. Though I'm interested in getting further into the pipe refurbishment scene, I think I'm a bit too inexperienced (and...

Refurbishing a 1947 Patent Dunhill Shell Briar

Hey y'all, I just picked up this lovely Dunhill Shell Briar from 1947 off eBay for 50 pounds. It seems she was someone's favourite smoker because golly this pipe is gunked up! I've refurbished a few estate pipes in the past, so I'm not a total newbie, but I was wondering if any of our old...

    UK Market Germain's Availability?

The prices are ludicrous here because of tobacco taxation. It's usually $1 a gram for any blend, regardless of whether it is Germains or Captain Black Grape! I don't believe they are marking up their products for export.

    UK Market Germain's Availability?

I've heard rumblings that it may be Brexit related, though I'm skeptical because Jersey and the UK are part of the same customs union (at least as of Jan 21, 2021). I live out in Singapore and my tobacconist recently took delivery of a massive amount of Germain's, so they're certainly working!

Just got word that this thick-walled Il Ceppo will be delivered today! After 50 days in transit, I'm sure I'll shed a tear. Will post photos in due time.

    Hi from Singapore!

Welcome! Fellow Singaporean checking in. I do believe the is someone else who either lives in the city or in Johor. I've since forgotten their tag, though.

How to Exorcise an Entrenched Ghost

Also tried, unfortunately, along with the coffee grounds! Whatever it is, it's very deep within the briar at this point.

***What Are You Smoking, May 2020?***

After 50 days in transit, my 1992 Dunhill Root Briar 4102 arrived in Singapore from Walker Pipe Repair. I picked this guy up from an Ebay auction in the Netherlands on a whim last year and I think I paid around 50 GBP for it. The stem didn't fit and there was a big notch out of the side where...

How to Exorcise an Entrenched Ghost

Multiple attempts haven't yielded much progress. I just got the pipe back from Walker Pipe Repair's Ozone treatment and it's still ghosted, but better. Might have to bake it with some activated charcoal.

New (to Me) Il Ceppo Pot from Pipestud

I wish I were able to share some more photos of the pipe with you all, but unfortunately the package has taken a very long rest with USPS in Miami since late March! Here's hoping it'll arrive in Singapore sometime in the next month (and maybe a shade more tan!).
