Tobacco Choices in Lithuania. What do you Think?

Do try the Old Gowrie, it’s a masterpiece.

    Mild English Blends

I second the vote above for Stokkebye's Balkan Supreme - a deliciously balanced Balkan/English that I can't get enough of. Not a lat bomb, mild to medium in strength. Some places call it Stokkebye, some call it Arango, but it's Balkan Supreme none the less and it's fantastic.

What Pipe Brand Don’t You Own But Want To?

Cannon! In color! (A Quinn Martin production.) Pepperidge Farm remembers!

    Learned a Valuable Lesson Today

When it gurgles just tip it up and hold the mouthpiece against your pants leg. This is the main reason I wear pants now.

    Bulk or Tins?

I'm sort of a cheapskate about the things I lavish vast amounts of money on. There are so many outstanding bulks that I don't see the point of tins, personally. Some favorites (Drucquer's, some Rattray's etc.) only come in larger 200g "soup can" tins so I get those. But looking at a stack of...

What Pipe Brand Don’t You Own But Want To?

Tatsuo. I would gladly buy about 3/4 of everything I see that he has made. But they start at $400 and go up from there. Maybe once my cellar is where it needs to be I'll go there. Priorities.

    Medical News Update

Well, other than outlawing something, I don't know what else a free society can be expected to do to proscribe a behavior. Door to door police inspections are an option I suppose, but then we've left behind any semblance of a society we would recognize.

Under 30 Pipe Smoker Noah Slasinski on Radio Show of August 13, 2024

If they expect to grow pipe smoking, or anything else, then this is the demographic they have to appeal to.

    Interesting Insight into Oz Tobacco

    Medical News Update

I think they have? Isn't the legal drinking age 21 in most places in the US? And much of the concern about smoking is the enormous downstream health care costs associated with cigarette smoking - which are vast, vast nearly beyond comprehension. As America moves inexorably toward a single...

    Medical News Update

If you ain't buyin', you ain't tryin'. Stock up. Pounds and pounds. Look at the prices in Canada where a tin of tobacco can cost $75. I aim to build a cellar of about 2 - 3 pounds a year for all the years I can expect to have left which is probably 35 years.

Do You Have A Preferred Shape?

I am embarrasingly enamored of the Peterson 53, which is a Lovat. But the Pete is so light, and so perfectly proportioned, with a bowl of perfect width and depth. My other pipes are huddled together, grumbling, and playing with their switchblades hoping that my 53 will turn his back at just the...

How and Why do you Clench?

Because my hands are busy driving while playing Jerry Garcia air guitar!

    Latakia and English blends

I think an underappreciated English that is delicious and true to type, but not a real Lat bomb, is C&D's Awakened Elder. It's a really great all day English, and the best of that Lovecraft series in my opinion.

What’s the deal with Rattray’s Marlin Flake?

In my limited experience, all the flakes turn to concrete in the bowl. I don't smoke them in flake form - I tear it all up fine and cram it back in the tin and leave the lid off for a couple of days, then go from there. Marlin Flake is fantastic but I have to basically beat it like a red...

Ok. So Escudo or Peterson De Luxe Navy Rolls

Two cheers for P. S. Luxury Bullseye. As a value buyer I basically just stick to bulk blends but there are so many fantastic bulk blends that I don't think I'm missing anything. LB Flake is proof of that. I have several pounds tucked away and can't wait for the 2, 3, and 4 year marks to start...

    Secret Information re: 1792 Flake

I smoke a lot in the car and on the boat and Homey Ain't Got No Time for relights and all that jazz...I need something that loads and packs easily and stays lit. I shred stuff fine and let it get nicely dry but not crunchy. Basically, just forget about it and let our Tennessee humidity act as...

    GLP Must Have Blends

I think if I had to choose only one tobacco that I can actually get my hands on in good quantity, it would be Westminster. It's pretty fantastic stuff, and hard to qualify - it hits all the right notes without too much of anything. It ages amazingly too. I'm working through an 8 oz tin now...

Jim's SPC Hogshead Bourbon Barrel Aged Review.

An excellent opportunity to save my money to deepen my cellar with old standards that I know I like. Can I get a harumph??
