Blends To Start Your Friends On

Another vote for Sir Walter Raleigh, or EMP. If you really like the fella, MyMixture 965 is a fantastic smoke.

    Test Driving A Falcon

I have a few Falcons (none of the International version, sadly), and I really recommend using "dry rings" for the metal bowl, as it makes the stem cleaning that much easier because they sop up most of the goop that otherwise may wend its way down the shaft. DIY Falcon Rings: wind a regular pipe...

    Supporting Local Shops

At the risk of ruining a very good thing, I have discovered that some B&Ms that sell online are not (yet?) charging other states' excise taxes for out-of-state buyers. This means that those particular vendors' prices are very competitive when buying online, even if their base prices are higher...

    TAD Acquisitions 2024

Today my first shipment from Boswell arrived: 2oz of Military Force, 2oz of G&H Louisiana Flake, 2oz of Kendal No.7 Unscented, 2 tins of C&D Dreams of Kadath, and one tin of the long-awaited McConnell Paddington. Can't wait to break open some bags and tins and smoke like royalty!

Man, I love Burley. What's Your Favorite?

I had a bowl of Sir Walter Raleigh to cap off the evening, and it was delicious, though I will say that it dried out my mouth more than a glass of the most tannic Cabernet Sauvignon has ever done. I'm still trying to rehydrate, an hour later. Even still, would (and will) smoke again.

    Traditional English Blends?

While I like a lot of Sutliff products, I have concluded that #504C Aromatic English is a tad too high on the moisture (probably due to PG), pretty much goopy. I blended it with some Daughters & Ryan Two Timer, a notoriously dry burley, and the moisture level at a 4:3 AroEng:DRTT blend ratio was...

    Traditional English Blends?

I too am a big fan of englishes, and enjoy many of the OP’s same blends. As a recommendation, I had a bowl of C&D Oriental Silk in a clay pipe yesterday that was thoroughly tasty and intriguing. The flavors weaved in and out throughout the bowl, with spice, incense, and smoothness. In accordance...

Fun Things To Do With Empty Tobacco Tins

I’ve always thought that a series of “Time to Smoke” clocks would be awesome: Early Morning Pipe and Nightcap seem like no-brainers.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

My newly-acquired Balkan Sasieni got an open and a smoke tonight.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

It has ended up as a three-bowl night, two I already mentioned (HH Bold Kentucky and G&H Brown Flake Aro). But I just opened my first tin ever of Balkan Sasieni, and OH MAH GAWD is this delicious, with a fantastic room note. This is a lovely discovery for me, as I managed to snag like 6 tins of...

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

HH Bold Kentucky in the bowl of a bog-standard bent pipe to begin the night's smokes, to be followed by my first bowl of G&H Brown Flake Aromatic in my MM Country Gentleman cob, knowing that it'd ghost anything else. This Bold KY is... well, let's just say that I set the pipe down before my 4th...

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

My first tin arrived this week, I haven't yet opened it but I will do so over the weekend. I am intrigued by the claim that it's similar to the Murray-made version of Dunhill's Royal Yacht. RY is one of my favorite blends, so I have every expectation that I'll like OG.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

Thank you, sir! I got the pipe rest via Ravenwood Fine Provisions, along with a 50g bag of his Hobbit's Leaf and Leaves of Athelas blends. I think that package arrived the same week that I went to see the extended versions of LOTR on the big screen. Nearly 12 hours in the theater that week! And...

Country Squire Cowboy Coffee in an estate Falcon (invented just down the road, in Fort Wayne), accompanied by a mug of Maxwell House. Followed with a bowl of Daughters & Ryan Two Timer Regular in the same bowl. Does it get any more domesticated than this?

Man, I love Burley. What's Your Favorite?

My first bag of DRTT arrived yesterday and I immediately loaded up a large bowl. Very pleasant, and I quickly started thinking about blends I could build with it. I just noticed that the shorthand name also describes how inexpensive the blend is: DRTT cheap!
