    Cringle Flake ‘23

Wow, it’s September and last year’s version is still available for purchase. Either production was increased 3x from prior year or folks are just focusing elsewhere. 2020 is my favorite year; I offloaded the rest.

In Stock Alert: Samuel Gawith Brown Sugar Flake

This is the question I hope gets definitively answered. I haven’t heard any formal word from anyone. @gawithhoggarth are you able to speak to this? Thanks!

What Tobaccos Were Common in the 18th Century?

1792 Flake was around back then! Or at least the company was…

    Pipe Bits Necessary?

I smoke a Falcon almost exclusively and the bits don’t really work for me on those pipes. I’ve had better success with them on other pipes.

Smokers Haven of the Southtowns - Buffalo, NY Area

I’ve only done phone orders from them before, never been to the shop in person, but they are friendly folks, nice guys on the phone who will small talk with you, and genuinely seem to appreciate the business. A buddy of mine lives close by them and is in the shop on the weekends, he loves the...

I wonder if the “Drop 15” code will stack with the coupon?

    Gawith Hoggarth Customer Conference 2023

These are great photos. Very good to see the community/customer outreach with knowledge sharing, connectivity, etc. Well done!

***What Are You Smoking, April 2023?***

Just lit a bowl of Condor Plug, the old Gallaher version from 2015 or so, in the trusty Falcon.

    OGS Perique %?

I have the palate of a goat, so take that into consideration, but I don’t taste any perique in OGS.

    What’s for Lunch?

Lunch today was last night’s leftovers: a cheeseburger from the grill and some fancied-up Mac and cheese. Not much to write home about.

***What Are You Smoking, April 2023?***

Just finished a bowl of Sam Gawith St. James Plug in a black (Hunter?) Falcon with Bantam bowl. Full-on perique assault, to my taster.

    A Couple Of Old Virginias

I have a tin of Beacon Extra simmering around in the cellar somewhere, awaiting its day in court. Seeing your opened tin makes me want to pop mine next.

    Dottle Weather

I pack the bowl a lot more lightly in the summers here in Georgia when it gets overly humid; that seems to help. Maybe also dry my tobacco out a bit more to help offset.

    No Cake?

I’m in the “no cake” camp, or at least the “very little cake” camp. I take a paper towel to the bowl after each smoke, and then occasionally ream with a sharp knife.

Enjoyed a bowl of Watch City Rougaroux last night, a generous sample gift from a fellow here on this forum.

    How Many Different Tobaccos Stored?

I have “lifetime quantities” of my top 5 or so blends, and then several dozen blends trailing behind it in the “I have enough” category.

    1792 Flake by Samuel Gawith

1792 Flake, and it’s plugged version brother “Cob Plug”, is an excellent option for me as an outdoors smoker on a cold winter night. I agree with the other comments about it losing it’s topping quickly if it’s dried out before smoking.

    Collecting cigars

I don’t collect them for the sake of collecting; I plan on smoking each and every one of them. My issue that I may be aging them to death because i almost always reach for a pipe instead of a cigar. But when it’s time for a cigar, I gladly “kill my darlings” and smoke the best stuff first.
