    The new stem is a Churchwarden, so it won't fit in a vice for a lathe. I don't think I can get the shank in a vice either. It's curved. I don't know that I would trust "freehand" drilling. Looks like the the $80 adjustable turning tool is the solution. Seems like a lot to pay for a one-off...

    yep georged, "Something is very odd here" when a "Preferred Member" with over 1000 posts and joined 4yrs ago acts like you do to a newbie, when all I'm trying to do is seek information.
