I have loads of meers with no cases, they go in the stands with all my briars. If I have a case it goes back in the case and the case goes in a stand. I’ve never seen any detrimental effects of keeping in either place.

You are correct, 1945-47 for circle com MADE IN IRELAND. The chimney or condenser is not integrated into the stem though. It’s bone, it’s screwed in. But it’s probably seized up by now, I wouldn’t try to unscrew it. Nice pipe!
