    A Pipe and a Drink (?)

I usually have a couple beers a night which I find no issues with. If I go more than that on a regular basis or break out the wine or hard stuff too often then I notice it does wear on me, but I sometimes like to party haha. Pipes are 3-4 a day, sometimes more but 3 a day feels fine for myself(...

    Dry or Moist Pipe Tobacco

Crispy or just shy of it. Although I think it has a lot to do with the humidity of where you live or your drying spot like your house. I live near the coast and I can leave my tobacco out for days and it won’t ever be super crispy bone dust dry. But I’ve been to other places where it will...

    The Workers Smoke

I like to switch it up between maybe 3 different blends. A burley, vaper and English type. But for more intense work something with some burley, Kentucky or both is a solid bet. A cool burning smoke that has some decent strength and tastes great no matter how you puff on it. If it’s a somewhat...

    Good Organic Tobacco Recommendations?

Leaf only has organic yellow and red Virginia and some burley. I’d suggest to grab a shredder as well.

Amphora Full Aroma: an Aromatic Blend

I thought it had some orientals in it? Anyway was a nice all day type of smoke and tobacco forward aromatic. The light touch with the topping is nice and doesn’t diminish the quality and blend of tobaccos.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2021?***

Whole leaf blend and a fine one at that! Va per stoved plug. Amazing full smoke with spicy fruity toasty bready creamy goodness. Makes me wonder why I get so complicated with blend recipes when simple things done well(and stoved) are the best. 50% red virginia 35% bright virginia 15% perique...

    Do You Enjoy Every Bowl?

Definitely not haha! - tobacco too moist - trying one of those pipes that’s been in the box for too long, so I want to give it some love and soon remember why I don’t smoke it as much as my cobs - sometimes I’ll make up a blend that isn’t the greatest, more so with my first experiments I’ve had...

    Smaller Pipes...

I prefer smaller pipes for twist and flake and even ribbon cut when I want a shorter smoke. I have a nice dr boston(butz choquin second) bulldog that is small size. But I’m a big fan of the standard legend and pride cobs at .75”x 1.25”.

    Cube Cut/Crumb Cut Tobacco

For gravity fill I tap the bowl with my fingers or hand to settle the tobacco a bit and then add some more.

Percentage Of Latakia In English/Aromatic Crossover Blends

Although I haven’t smoked any aromatic English blends, I am always making blends and have experimented lots with English styles. I like around 15% lat for a mild English. 20% gets more into medium territory and if you smoke heavy lat blends that might be your definition of mild. At 10% the lat...

    Latakia Reversal?

Balance is key. You can definitely have too much of a good thing. If I smoke too much lat all the time, I start to want heavier(more lat) blends. It's better to switch it up, I seem to appreciate the milder blends more if I'm not always smoking latakia blends. My phases of preference cycle...

    In The Kitchen

My blenders bench and pipes are located in the kitchen on a counter and some shelves. I do most of my processing and blending in there. I do lots of stoving so it's easier to have everything in the kitchen. My shredder is in my office though. I keep my pipes pretty clean and in a plastic bin...

    Cutting Crumble Cakes

When it's a coarse cut dense crumble cake I like to make a wide cut strip, like a bit bigger than 1/8". I find that if i dont cut it sometimes the bigger flat pieces can restrict airflow in smaller pipes.

    Smoking Health Concerns and Children

I just had a little girl(1 year old now) and the recommendations from nurses were to change your clothes(or wear a smoking jacket) and wash hands. I usually waited a few min after smoking until my breath wasn't to intense. This is for newborns while the chance for SIDS is still a concern. After...

Help Me Enjoy My IMCO Lighter

Yep those imco ones burn, although I haven't found mine to burn as quick as yours. Some wicks like the Zippo one(I think) have copper wire wrapped through the wick. Try those and maybe just the a thread and needle to pull it through like the imco ones. I haven't tried a Zippo wick but I stopped...

Do You Smoke Outside Your Home/Yard?

Not inside the house. I live on a small farm in the rural part of the city. So out and about outside, mostly sitting in my seed house or porch. In the car I do though when I got deliveries to run.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2021?***

Whole leaf blend. Lovin the burley lately. No frills American English. Easy going all day smoke with a decent kick. Nutty, a mild sweetness that picks up towards the end and the latakia keeps things interesting but stays in the background. 50% burley 20% latakia 20% stoved red Virginia 10%...

***What Are You Smoking, July 2021?***

Ya I would definitely give it a go if you're interested. Definitely a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it you can make some really nice blends that suit what you like. Also a good lesson on what all the individual constituents of a blend are. The addition of perique turned out...

Can’t Enjoy My Pipe Without Alcohol

I only start drinking in the late afternoon or evening. It's coffee after breakfast and lunch for me with my early pipes. Try having an after breakfast smoke(unless that means you will start drinking in the morning, then maybe not a good idea haha)

***What Are You Smoking, July 2021?***

Flavourwise, ya it's a bomb for sure, definitely not an all day blend haha. 40-60% Kentucky or strong burley is around where I like for nic strength(unless it's got perique as well) This one isn't too powerful by my standards. I'm actually gonna add a little perique and see how close to the...
