Yep exact same. Not really a cooler smoke as some say, but the raw chamber is more porous and the pipe itself is lighter -

Gift Pipe Problem
Ya I would go to the shop in person. if you end up having to keep the pipe it can be repaired(either professionally or by yourself) I have some pipes with a crack there and I used some waxed thread tied around the shank which has held up well for many smokes. but your pipe is definitely not... -
Why The Heavy Use of Red VA In VaPers?
Depends on how its processed too. a minimally processed red will be more bready, while something that's been pressed and aged/fermented a while or stoved will be more fruity and tangy. Brights on the other hand will be more grassy and citrus at first but become more creamy, herbal and floral...- F4RM3R

Cob Pipe Attributes
Another thing for me is bowl size. I find the legend and pride(.75" x 1.25") to be perfect for me most of the time as I don't want a really long smoke. Not as optimal for complex kitchen sink ribbon cut blends, but I do have other pipes for those and I smoke mostly flakes, cakes and twist anyway. -
What’s in your Spring/Summer Rotation.
There is something about latakia blends when it's chilly and rainy that go well together. Here in Vancouver we get a lot of that in winter. I do feel more attracted to the brighter and sweeter blends(more virginias) during summer though, and more perique to go with it. But I'll still smoke...- F4RM3R

Ol reliable. Even if the tobacco isn't dried to perfection or you're lighting up bowl after bowl, always a good smoke. That being said, Ive gotten better flavour with certain blends in my briars and meer occasionally, but it's not always the case. Lately I've been smoking cobs most of the time... -
How Much do You Keep on Hand?
Wow some of you have alot stashed away! I order whole leaf so I have around 5-7lb on hand of various leaf(virginias, Kentucky, latakia, perique, orientals) then I'll reorder a few lbs every 6 months or so when I run out virginia and kentucky which get used the most in my blends.- F4RM3R

What Are the Most Fireproof Blends?
Dark and black stoved virginia will definitely burn slower but shouldn't be a problem if its dried enough. I've smoked some dense thick flakes of the black stoved virginia I've made, but it had to be dried crispy for a better smoke.- F4RM3R
