Sam Gawith Special Flakes 1, 2, 3 and 5 Are No Longer in Production

That’s sad to hear. They are excellent flakes if you enjoy SG Lakeland’s. I ordered 50g of each flake in December and have enjoying them and planned on buying more ?

***What Are You Smoking, February 2021?***

Finally had a chance to smoke my new to me Castello 55 with SG Kendal Plug. It feels like forever since my last pipe. It was cold out but the sun was shining. So far I think I’m going to enjoy this shape. I have always wanted a 55 but never got one. Thanks to @lukasstrifeson The Kendal Plug...

    Rolando Negoita

He was an outstanding pipemaker and one of the nicest people when you stopped by his table at pipe shows. He always had time to talk and show you his pipes. RIP

***What Are You Smoking, January 2021?***

Had a chance to enjoy an outstanding bowl of SG Special Flake #2 in the 28° weather. The flakes are beautiful, thin and uniform, almost like some of the thinner McClellands, and they burned perfectly. They felt quite moist, but I had no burn issues. #2 is in the Grousemoor family, with less...

Does Grousemoor Age Well or Does It Lose Essence?

I have a jar from 2010 and it’s potent. The lemon grass has morphed into a deeper aroma and the tobacco turns dark brown. In my experience, the blend gets fuller and richer, but is still a pain to keep lit if you don’t dry it. It’s fantastic. I second the plug. Outstanding and easier to keep lit.

    What Cigar are You Smoking?

Those original 601 Greens were outstanding and were originally made by Don Pepin Garcia of My Father cigars. I smoked boxes of those back in the day. Once MF stopped making them Rocky Patel took over and the blend changed. I wish I saved a few.

    What Cigar are You Smoking?

I dug deep today and smoked an original release (2007) Cohiba Maduro Secreto. This box unfortunately had the fire-proof EL wrapper. I never really had a good one out of the box. But after smoking one today they have finally turned the corner. It was like smoking a chocolate bar. Not sure if it...

Where Are The Hot Tea Guru's?

I got some on my last order and didn’t like it at all. But I have started drinking more raw and ripe Pu-Erhs over the last month and came back to it and loved it. After drinking quite a bit of it, I noticed that the amount of tea you use and the length of the steep makes all the difference.

***What Are You Smoking, January 2021?***

I had plans on smoking one of the SG Special Flakes, but I came across a jar of Watch City Dominion I purchased in 2019. It was my first order from WC and I never smoked it and jarred it up on arrival. I have been loving similar crumble cakes from both WC and Peretti. OD is in the same vein as...

***What Are You Smoking, January 2021?***

I was able to get outside for a quick smoke and enjoyed a bowl of Pfeifen Huber Virginia Golden Flake. This comes in a long flake similar to LGF and has a very sweet, malty flavor. It reminds of Orlik Golden Sliced but without the high/bitey notes (when fresh) and a deeper sweet profile. I have...

***What Are You Smoking, January 2021?***

Finally had a chance to enjoy a quick pipe. I never realized how much the cold weather slows my smoking down. I received my tobacco from Synjeco, so I had to try Bad Nuns. I love Bad Nuns 2 and I think I’m going to love #1 just as much. i hope to try the SG Special Flakes and the other Synjeco...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Braving the cold for a nice bowl of 2016 Stonehaven. Generously sent by @tschiraldi along with my first Jesse Jones pipe. In preparation of an afternoon painting bathroom tiles.

    Shipping Woes

Im in the same boat. I have a tea order going on 12 days. My KBV Festivus took about 10 days but somehow got here. I did join a group buy for Synjeco tobaccos that’s been in transit for awhile, it made it to NY but I’m not getting my hopes up of getting that order any time soon. Eventually...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Had a great bowl of Revor Plug in the freezing temps this morning. I still taste Latakia, the pouch note is starting to open up and I get more of a floral scent. The first half of the bowl was floral, but I put my pipe down for about ten minutes and the Latakia taste was much stronger on the...

    Davidoff Flake Medallions

I have an original sales rep tin that Davidoff gave to their reps before it was released. My salesman at the time thought it was a joke and was more interested in selling Davidoff cigars. I will crack it one of these days. I second LGF. I opened a 2006 tin a few months ago and it was...

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Thanks. This is one of my best smokers. along with my other Rinaldos. It’s a Lithos YY Silver Line 3. It’s very light and comfortable to clench.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Watch City Flake 558. I really like this blend and each bowl just gets better and better. I’m struggling to fall in love with Simply Red and R&B, but 558 was love at first puff.

    12/4/20: First Synjeco SA Order

I participated in group buy and am expecting some Kentmere Twist, Holker Twist and Ambleside Curly coming in a week or two. I have heard they are all excellent VaPers.
