***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

Back to back bowls this morning, something I very seldom do. First up Solani 633 then Solani Silver Flake. 633 was excellent. The Silver Flake nipped my tongue at first, but once it settled down, it was very enjoyable. I think I’m good for the day.

I love those meerschaums. Almost pulled the trigger on one. How does it smoke?

    Cellaring Question

I always leave some room for a little air. In my opinion, it helps with aging.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

A fantastic bowl of Capstan Blue. I usually mark my tins but this one I didn’t. It has a date on the back label that says 2013 ( I think July) Anyone know if this is from the original batch? It tasted a little different than later tins I have smoked. Thanks.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

Enjoyed a bowl of Solani 633 from around 2012. It actually dried out due to a faulty seal ( tobacco on the rim before closing ) on my mason jar and became strips instead of flakes. I added a few drops of distilled water and let it rest a few weeks. Tastes great. Much sweeter than I expected...

    Bruce Weaver

Bruce was a great guy and one of the nicest people you could meet. Once you spent time with him (and smoked a bowl with him) you felt like you just met a new best friend. RIP.

    Ken Byron Blends

I ordered some Sakura and River of Deceit last night. I enjoyed the few blends I previously ordered. Looking forward to trying these two.

    FVF Not Working For Me

After all these years I have finally had a great bowl of FVF (I posted in the now smoking section). Granted it was from 08. I have a few different vintages in tins and jars I am planning on trying. Was it such a great smoke to wait 12 years for, no. But it was damn good. Glad this thread got bumped.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

I cracked open a tin of Solani Burley Flake (the older square tins). The flakes were gorgeous and the cocoa aroma was quite strong. It was pretty good, but I think it needs time to breathe. I am going to leave it in the tin for a few days and then transfer to a mason jar. I primarily smoke...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

Enjoyed a bowl of Esoterica Blackpool. I was very impressed and might need to get more for my cellar. It is a pain to relight so often but the flavors were great. One of the few bowls recently that an hour later I wanted to light up another one. As usual, the high- quality leaf was the star.

    First Esterval’s Purchase

I think it does. A good friend sent me a very generous sample because he knows my distaste for Cherry blends. It was more of a joke between us. But I smoked the entire sample in a few days and added four tins to my order. Smoked cool and has a medium natural cherry flavor that doesn’t taste...

    First Esterval’s Purchase

All the blends you ordered are excellent. The waiting is the hardest part, but it’s such an exiting day when they arrive. I hope you enjoy them.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

Had a fail and an enjoyable surprise this morning. Fail - St Bruno from when it was still only available in Europe with the very thin flakes. Bit me and tasted flat. Although it was a little dry, I think it was more me than the tobacco. I am re-hydrating this jar in hopes it tastes better...

Cigar Leaf Based Blends... C&D Billy Budd vs HU Nyala

If you are looking for a cigar/ Latakia blend I would highly recommend Mogano by Schurch. Best cigar blend I have ever smoked. Nobody seems to talk about Schurch blends anymore but at one time he was the HU tobacco of the 90’s. Also, since you are in Europe Synjeco carries it ( at least they...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

Enjoyed a bowl of old (2013) Stonehaven. Started a little off but once it hit its groove it was excellent. The topping (treacle) was strong at first, which I love, then settled down to just a great Va/Bur smoke. I love the super thin flakes and I just did a quick rub and stuff right from the 7...
