My last order got hung up in customs for almost a week. Total time was 18 days. St James Plug is fantastic. I plan on ordering more shortly. My only advice is make sure you get the plugs either in Mylar or jars. Mine came a little on the dry side which is odd for SG. I was very happy with the...
Got the chance to smoke a bowl of Peretti RCTR (straight Virginia) on this cold afternoon. It was excellent, but it did nip me slightly because I was overpuffing to get that delicious Peretti sweetness. I have my eye on a new pipe so I dug out an old Savinelli De Luxe which is similar to what...
Finally had a chance to enjoy a bowl of L.J. Perretti London Flake. Another excellent tobacco. This is one of the most citrusy tobaccos I have ever tried. I got a little tongue nip in the beginning from puffing too hard. Once I slowed my cadence it behaved well. Between the cooler fall weather...
Did you try Rouxgaroux? If you did, what did you think? I had some in my cart and didn’t pull the trigger. My first bowls of Simply Red were okay. But I recent smoked more after a year of aging and enjoyed it.
Had the chance to smoke a bowl of L.J. Peretti Park Square. After being on a Gawith bender the last few months, all I can say is wow. What a great blend. It packed easy, had a great sweet/sour taste and burned flawlessly down to ash. I ordered from Peretti years ago and still have a few tins of...
After almost a week without a pipe I was able to squeeze in a bowl today. But I had no idea what to smoke. I watched a great interview with Ernie so I decided on some year old Simply Red. For some reason I have struggled with this tobacco. So much so that I had Rouxgaroux in my cart and didn’t...
I absolutely love Special Flake #5. I just got in 50g a few weeks ago. I have it on my list for my next order along with the other Special Flakes. Sorry to hear it’s discontinued. The plugs are fantastic. I hope you enjoy them and please let us know how you like the other flakes.
Had a chance to smoke a bowl of Samuel Gawith Special Flake #5. What an outstanding flake (if you like Lakeland’s). This one is hard to describe, I get the lemon grass overtones of Grousemore, but this flake has so much more depth. I enjoy Grousemore but it hits a certain flavor and stays all...
Samuel Gawith St James Plug. I have not smoked any recent production St James flake, but the plug is outstanding. Very sweet with plums and figs throughout the entire bowl. This is definitely on the buy more list.
Almost every major manufacturer freezes their cigars. The only time you have to (slightly) be concerned about beetles are with Cubans. Make sure your humidor temps stay around 65-70° and you will be okay, in my opinion.
Finally had a chance to try Samuel Gawith RB Plug on this crisp Fall afternoon paired with a Devonshire Earl Grey Tea. RB is a fantastic tobacco. I cut a few thin flakes and let them dry for an hour and it burned great. A little extra lights here and there but not bad. The Lakeland topping isn’t...
Smoking my first bowl of Gawith & Hoggarth Revor plug. I purchased a few pouches on the recommendation of @brooklynpipeclub. The plug smelled delicious and was easy to break apart and rub out. After reading the reviews I thought it was going to be in the same vein as St Bruno/Walnut Flake with a...
Haven’t had time for a pipe in a few days. But had the chance for a half bowl of Synjecos Bad Nuns 2. It was delicious and can’t wait to sit and relax with a full bowl. Looking forward to trying a few SG plugs and Revor Plug this week if time allows.
I had an outstanding bowl of 2012 S&G Best Brown. I don’t think I have ever smoked BB before. I was lucky to purchase a few 250g boxes of SG flakes years ago because my local store at the time couldn’t get rid of them. They still had Murray’s Dunhill blends on their shelves in 2012. Same with...
