***What Are You Smoking, October 2020?***

Everyone went to sleep early tonight so I decided to enjoy the cool weather on the deck and have a bowl of 2013 S&G Kendal Cream. The perfect mellow tobacco for a relaxing Sunday night smoke.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2020?***

Smoked like a freight train today, something I rarely do. Started the day with a nicely aged Hoyo De Monterrey Des Dieux that was like smoking floral gingerbread Christmas spices ( in a good way). Then a few hours later had another outstanding bowl of SG St James Flake. Now finishing the day...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2020?***

Had the chance to enjoy a bowl of 2013 SG St James Flake. Every time I dig into this jar it just gets better. Today’s bowl tasted like Stonehaven with Perique. The Virginia has a treacle-type flavor and the Perique adds a slight spice. Aged SG flakes are outstanding.

How To Dedicate Pipes To Lakeland’s (ish) Genres?

I have a few pipes dedicated to Lakeland’s. If it’s scented I smoke it in those pipes. G&H, SG etc. all get smoked in those pipes. I don’t break it down further than that and have found smoking the scented tobaccos in dedicated pipes brings out more nuances within the tobacco. Plus I can smoke...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2020?***

Perfect weather for a bowl of G&H Brown Flake Unscented. The air is damp and cool. The first part of the bowl is okay, but then all the flavors come bursting through for an enjoyable bowl of high-quality Virginia/Burley. I love both the scented and unscented versions.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2020?***

After recently ordering some SG Full Virginia Plug I decided to root around my cellar and smoke some FVF. I didn’t realize I have quite a bit cellared from years ago and I barely smoke it. So today I decided to really give it a go. I grabbed some bulk from 2012, rubbed it out and let it dry in...

Jim's Revised Heinrichs Curly Block Review.

I purchased some about two months ago ( on your recommendation, thank you ?) that says made in Germany and manufactured by K&K. I might buy some of the new stuff to try. Thanks for updating your review.

What Did You Smoke Today? Cigars.

No pipe today but smoked an outstanding 2012 Vegas Robaina Famosos. These have some of the prettiest tan milk-chocolate wrappers I have ever seen. The wrappers are super thin and delicate. This was like smoking a latte. Smooth and creamy but rich in tobacco flavor and zero spice. Sadly I smoked...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2020?***

Had a rare Sunday night pipe. I grabbed a new tin of Escudo just for the heck of it. I haven’t smoked a fresh tin in years. While I was smoking it I kept wondering why I don’t smoke Escudo more often. What an outstanding tobacco. Burned flawlessly with the signature VaPer sweet/spice. But what...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2020?***

I have had a 250g box of SG Kendal Cream in my cart for a few days and decided before I ordered it to check my cellar. I have a bunch of aged SG from years ago and found a jar of 250 grams from 2013. This is an outstanding blend that doesn’t get talked about. Sweet, sort of creamy and very...

What are Some Blends You Never Had the Chance to Try?

I was given a plug of Condor from Russ at P&C when he was working on the War Horse blends. I he had a bunch when he was blending the WH Green and for the life of me I can’t find it. I really don’t think I threw it out. I really wish I had that plug.

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

After two false starts, about a third of a bowl each then tossed out. First one was a popular Virginia flake that had no taste the other was a popular boutique VaPer that sizzled my tongue, I grabbed some Sutliff Elizabethan match for something easy to smoke with no fuss and enjoyable.

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

Got the chance to enjoy two back to back bowls of Heinrichs Curly Block and Salty Dogs. Since I’ve had more time to enjoy my pipes I’ve kept to a rotation of four to five pipes for the last 8 months. I decided to smoke my Rinaldo bent Rhodesian, which I haven’t smoked in years. What a different...

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

Just finished a bowl of SG St James Flake from 2013. It was outstanding and definitely mellowed out a little after all these years. The spicy high note of the Perique is less noticeable and the blend is more balanced then when it was fresh. Besides almost being jet black, these flakes are very...

    Samuel Gawith Mold Issue??

I have a question, don’t mean to go off topic, but do the new tins of Cabbies still have the SG brochure inside of them? I know a few people with aged tins that weren’t happy the brochure was in there.

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

I smoked two bowls of John Cotton’s Double Pressed Virginia. I didn’t plan to, but I was labeling a few new tins to put in my cellar and noticed this one sounded like dry tobacco shaking around the tin. I figured the seal broke in shipping so I popped it open. It turns out it was just the...

    Experience with Synjeco's?

Waiting to hear back from him on payment options. I would prefer using my AE card. But not opposed to a transfer. When I used to order from him I never had any issues with duties or taxes.

    Experience with Synjeco's?

I have ordered from them numerous times in the past with excellent results. I used to order Schurch Mogano and Onyx. Back then you could pay directly on the site. I am in the process of placing another order and talking to Daniel. I will let you know how it goes.

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

Sitting on my deck on the first cool day of the season. I decided to open a pouch of Dan Tobacco Salty Dogs. Opened the pouch, cut a few thin slices and loaded my pipe. No drying time and smoked perfect. A little gurgle here and there but I attribute that to my packing. Excellent plug with a...
