    Organic Tobacco

I still have a few tins left of OGF. It was a fantastic tobacco. I cracked a tin about two years ago and enjoyed it.

    Mauro Armellini Pipe Appreciation

My first pipe was an Armellini I purchased in the 90’s. I still smoke it to this day and everything I pack in it smokes great. I ended up with 6 of them and they all smoked great, but over the years I sold them or gave them away to friends but always kept my first pipe. Agree 100% with...

    What Cigar are You Smoking?

I’ve been on a Warped kick for a few months and every cigar has been excellent. I love the fruity, baking spice character of their cigars. I have a bunch of aged Cubans I haven’t touched this entire time. Today I grabbed my only Flor Del Valle and I have to say I’m a little disappointed. It’s a...

    Watch City's "Rouxgaroux" In-Stock

I logged into my account around 11:50am just to get ready and was able to purchase some. I had some in my cart last Halloween and didn’t place the order and regretted it. Glad I will have some to smoke and some to age.

    Broken Pipe Frank Burla

No matter how much pressure he was experiencing running the Chicago show for all those years, he was always pleasant and helpful and a true gentleman during the show. RIP

    Samuel Gawith Kendal Cream Deluxe

I agree it’s a fantastic blend. I have been slowly going through 250g I jarred in 2012. If I smoke it too much it loses a little bit of that magic, but if I smoke it sparingly, every bowl is a treat. Spot on with your comparison to St. James Flake.

    What Cigar are You Smoking?

I just lit up a Warped Bits Of Havana. A friend gave me one last year and I loved it. I finally gave in and ordered a 10-pack. The first one was okay but nothing special. So I let them sit in my humidor for a few weeks. Hopefully this one recaptures the magic of the first one.

Synjeco's Bad Nun 2 - Made by Gawith

Excellent review. Bad Nuns 2 is an outstanding tobacco. It’s very unique and sometimes that’s all I want to smoke. When I smoke a few bowls in a row, it only gets better and more nuanced.

What is Samuel Gawith’s Most Under-Rated Tobacco?

I would say their Special Flakes. I purchased one of them (I forget which one, but is was a heavy Lakeland Blend) and I quickly ordered 50g of each. I think they may be discontinued now, but I have two pipes dedicated to these flakes. When I’m in the mood for a Lakeland, these hit the spot. Not...

Are There Pipe Makers Who Make Filtered Pipes?

Doesn’t J Mouton make filter pipes upon request? I though I saw something on YT where he mentions it. I enjoy his YT videos.

Broken Pipe Mr. Castello Chuck Rio

RIP Chuck ? I purchased my first Castello from him about 15 years ago at the Chicago show. A mutual friend took me to his to look at his Castellos. He was the nicest guy you could meet and sat there for an hour going over the history of every Castello I was interested in. I purchased this Old...

    Paint Can Tins

Once I open a tin it goes into a mason jar after a few days. In the case of the Peretti tins I let the tobacco breath in the tin/bag for about week then transfer to a jar.

    Paint Can Tins

In my experience, I agree with you. As an example, back around 2005 I worked with George Brissie ( the famed Calabash collector RIP) and we opened a tin of Reiner LGF and enjoyed a bowl together. He gave me the tin and I have had it in my cellar ever since. He passed away in the mid 2000’s and I...

    Could Not Resist...Again (Peter Matzhold)

Congratulations on the pipe. Peter’s stem work is precise, delicate and very comfortable. His shaping and engineering are also first class. I hope you enjoy the pipe.

    Sutliff 515-RC

I found aging 515-RC improved my enjoyment of the blend. When it’s young I tend to over puff my pipe because that sweetness is so enjoyable I don’t realize my tongue is sizzling. I did the same with 5100 when I first started smoking it. With age I get less bite and can smoke a few bowls in a row...

    Sourcing Tea

If you’re interested in Chinese tea I would highly recommend Yunnan Sourcing. They have a US site and a site in Yunnan. Scott is a great guy and they carry a great selection of Pu-Erh (Ripe and Raw)Oolong, Black, Green and white tea.

Saying Goodbye to My Best Friend of 13 Years

So sorry for your loss. RIP

First Time McClelland 5100 Red Cake.

Great review and spot on with the tasting notes. I also get a slight cinnamon note in the smoke that I have never tasted in any other tobacco.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2021?***

Had a chance to enjoy a pipe today. After two weeks of sciatica and finally feeling relief, I grabbed one of my best smokers and two tobaccos. I started with a bowl of a fairly htf, popular tobacco and it burned horrible, started to bite me and just generally burned bad. Probably just a bad...

    What Cigar are You Smoking?

Because of the weather I haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy my pipe too often. And since I never got the hang of smoking a pipe and driving I had a 2010 Partagas Lusitania yesterday. Most larger cigars take about a third to really hit their stride, but this Lusi started off with tons of flavor...
