    Sarasota Pipe Meet

I see that there is a pipe shop in St Pete - Edwards. Never been, but could be a good road-trip! There are two very good cigar places in North Port. Another good one on University. Great little coffee shop on Siesta Key and a couple of pubs that are cigar friendly in the area.

    Recommend a Blend

Good stuff! I've seen it described as a Scottish blend and also as an Oriental Blend. No matter - it is a very quality blend that is maybe a bit past medium. Very satisfying and ages well.

    Recommend a Blend

965 -Now Peterson is excellent and very smooth. A classic is Squadron Leader - a mid strength English from SG. Best of luck.

    Sarasota Pipe Meet

941? Never was able to put something together. This could be fun - get together at a pub or find a real pipe shop to visit.

***What Are You Smoking? January 2020.***

Started off the new year this evening with a bowl of well aged 2012 HH ODF in a Peterson 303, followed by 2012 Nightcap in a Pete 4s Deluxe. Nice and smooth, pleasant aftertaste. Love my Petes!

    Sarasota Pipe Meet

Seems that there are a few here in Sarasota and close by. Is there interest in getting together for a few bowls and coffee, beer, hooch or whatever? If we can get a group, can do a road trip to Tampa / St Pete area. There are a couple pipe/cigar shops between here and there. Also, amazing...

What Does Your Scene Look Like?

I'll take that one, and this one,, and the one over there...! Now, that is the way to cellar - Very Well Done!

    Cask Aging Tobacco

Do what McClelland did - put a stave that was soaked in your rum (and then dried completely) into the tobacco jar and age for a year. No likelihood of damage to either the cask or the tobacco.

    Not a 'Junior' Anymore...

Just realized that I'm not a Junior Member anymore. Must have said the magic spell words! Now, I can cause full-size trouble!!! Muuuhhaawww-HHaawww-Haaawww !!! BTW - Happy New Year To All :col:

    Zippo

Saw a fix for zip evaporation on youtube where you find a wide rubber band and put that around the lighter - covering the seam. Looking for a rubber-band now!

    Zippo

Wait - you send in a standard Zippo lighter, they return to you the old insert plus a free pipe insert in your case??? A free pipe lighter insert just for the asking??? What's the catch?

    Ageing Tobacco - Recommended Blends?

I am enjoying 5 different English / Oriental blends and one HH ODF. ODF has mellowed substantially. All of the Lat blends are amazing with 5-10 years age. Have to say that the 965 and Nightcap are the best of the lot.

Is The Esoterica Bubble Ending Because of China?

Yeah - unfortunately, here in Florida, there are painfully few B&M Pipe shops left. Cigars have remained somewhat popular, but pipe smoking has gone terribly soft here. Probably too many millennials! rotf

    Mac Baren HH Line

So, thinking about the whole lineup of HH tobaccos, which are winners and which are snoozers? I'm going with ODF and Lat Flake. Curious about the Balkan - comments?

    HH Old Dark Fired

Two have been discontinued??? I remember the Syrian, but which other?

    HH Old Dark Fired

Came out in 2012 or maybe earlier. I record all of my tin purchases and show the earliest buy as being in Dec. 2012.

    HH Old Dark Fired

I remember when this wonder was first released - what a powerhouse and a taste treat in one. Prices were great, too. For a while there, prices went through the roof and seem to have settled back to reality in the last few years. This stuff is so good that many of us surely have gone deep in...
