Please Tell Me What is Causing This

Some Orientals and Perique tobaccos are spicy and can cause a tingling on the tongue. Imagine what this does in the sinus with a nice hot smoke! My favorite Scottish (McClelland's Scottish Woods) definitely gives the tongue tingles every time, regardless of how easily you sip. Wonderful...

    Palate Fatigue?

Not had this with pipes, but with cigars - yep. After a few days of 4-5 cigars per day, fatigue definitely sets in. I lay of for about a week or two and am fresh as a daisy again.

Does Bigger Bowl Give Better Taste?

Personally, I'm not a fan of really large bowls. I have a gorgeous Peterson 307 and it is the one of my Pete's that I am not really that into. Does not seem to offer up as fine a smoke as the smaller bowl pipes.

    Really Struggling.

Hey Jordon, keep at it - definitely worth the work! You need to know that you aren't alone, brother! We ALL went through that. All of a sudden, you got it and don't even know how or why! One thing I've found by accident is that dry tobacco - I mean pretty dry, but not dust, often lights and...

About To Give Up On Non Aromatics

Like others here have said, smoke what you like and don't look back! That said, you might want to try one or two of the more popular quality English or Oriental blends - if you like wonderfully smoky pipe tobaccos. English blends are honest in that they taste pretty much like they smell. You...

Favorite Esoterica Blends - Besides Penzance

OK, here's one with a twist... Excluding Penzance, what's your two favorite Esoterica Blends? Personally, I'd do Margate & Dunbar.

    Stonehaven: Plume Or Mold?

A cigar forum owner had a lab do a series of tests on 'plume' and mold. This was from dozens of samples submitted from literally throughout the globe. Results were rather interesting. ALL of the samples received (yes, from dozens of samples) proved to be various strains of mold. The series...

Peterson (Dunhill) Nightcap, Ready to Go From Tin??

IMHO, Nightcap and HH would both benefit from some dry time. Personally, I like my pipe tobacco slightly on the dry side, as I prefer not to be futzing with lighting too much. Bear in mind that YMMV.

How Many Blends Do You Have In Rotation

5 at the moment. This is just by accident. I actually lost these 5 jarred tins from 2012 and recent found them - quite dry! So, I re-hydrated them and DAMN! Super smooth and wonderful pipe tobaccos. All smoke perfectly and need few relights. I may just start letting tins dry out completely...

    Tobacco Storage Question

If your jarred tobacco gets dried out, you can re-hydrate easily. Just do not add water directly to the tobacco. Make a small 2" foil bowl, tear off a small piece of paper towel and fold it to about 3/4 x 3/4 and wet it. Squeeze just enough that it won't drip and put into foil bowl you made...

Well... a couple of places that I know of here in Sarasota that are cigar friendly and so - pipe friendly... West End Pub in Gulfgate area. Nice pub, older crowd (no 20-somethings) with good happy hour prices. Patio area out back with tv screen. Another is Lelu's Coffee on Siesta Key. Patio...
