1972 Walgreen's Ad - Sobranie, Escudo, Dunhill OTC

If you wanted to buy that $7.70 Krisson pipe with today's money you have to bring over $40.00 back with you. Depends on how your time machine works, I suppose :)

Opinions Needed On - Brebbia Pipes

Very nice! I like the cut of its jib =) You will love it for sure.

    Interesting Pipe Smoker

Pipe could use a salt and alcohol treatment.

    A Late Christmas Present

My wife had been hunting for upright bass for me for a couple months. Finally one turned up and she showed up with this in the back of the Highlander. I haven't played since Jr College back in 1975 but I'm surprised how much I remember. It's a 1956 Kay Bass. Her motive in buying this was...

    Falcon Pipes

Back in 1995 I inherited one from my grandfather's collection. But because I was so partial to briar and vulcanite I just let it sit in the rack for over ten years. Then I picked up another one in a lot of old pipes I got on eBay. I cleaned them both up and on a whim decided to fire one up. I...

How long does your smallest bowl last?

I get about fifteen minutes of Molto Dolce enjoyment out of this Stanwell Harlekin Pipe.

    Revamped P&C Website

I tried to leave a review there but noticed the comments are not formatted at all so everything comes out as a wall of text. That should probably get fixed soon.

    How to pronounce Dr. Grabow.

Supposing the name Grabow is of German origin, would it be "Grahbow"? Then again, most Americans don't pronounce their names as their ancestors did. (My name is Starke and we just say "stark") I've always heard it said as "Graybow".

What's Your Favorite Name for a Blend?

    Another vote for Squadron Leader!

I Received a Pipe Book for Christmas

Probably an obscure reference to one of her poems. What a stretch though! ’T IS whiter than an Indian pipe, ’T is dimmer than a lace; No stature has it, like a fog, When you approach the place. Not any voice denotes it here, Or intimates it there; A spirit, how doth it accost...

I Received a Pipe Book for Christmas

I believe the portrait of ED holding a pipe was photoshopped. Is this the one?

    Suitable Solvents for Pipe Cleaning?

A fifth of Everclear is about $15 here in Oregon. It's kept behind the counter due to DHS rules, or so the store proprietor said. That much is going to last me several years, I think.

My First Tobacco Order Has Shipped

I'd be curious to read what you think of the Chocolate Truffle. I was very disappointed with that as it left an unpleasant sticky coating in my mouth. There was just a hint of chocolate and it was more of a powdery unsweetened cocoa than chocolate.

Old Ropp with Interesting Stem Repair

This is the first one in my collection and I'm enjoying it. I was prepared to go as high as twenty or 25 bucks on that but after being listed for six days mine was the only bid. I see there are some more good looking ones listed right now.

Brebbia Pipes: What Do You Think?

I don't know how they described the shape, but I'd call it "Yardstick".

    Ideal bowl size?

Just a personal preference, but I like larger bowls for English blends and smaller ones for my aromatics. I guess I don't like to overindulge in "dessert".

    Beware the Flu Shot!

Then again, some of the doctors I work with have the worst health habits of anybody including excesses and deficits. Best to make a decision based on your own research and preferences rather than following somebody's example. If they tell me why they wouldn't get I would certainly listen. The...

Brebbia Pipes: What Do You Think?

This is my Brebbia "Iceberg" that I bought sometime in the mid '80's. One pipe like this in my collection is quite sufficient =)

Old Ropp with Interesting Stem Repair

Ha ha! Whoever made that modification did a really good job of it. The firing pin has been drilled out nicely and the stem tenon is a nice fit. As rustic as the pipe looks, it was either lightly smoked or well cared for. Picked it up on eBay for $7.50 . I've seen worse go for more. I don't know...
