    Beware the Flu Shot!

It's really bad this year. Our intensive care unit at the hospital is brimming with flu sufferers. It's not the flu so much that puts them there but the secondary pneumonia that hits them very hard. Don't get sick.

Old Ropp with Interesting Stem Repair

An interesting stem repair. I never thought of using a shell casing for this!

    Bad Nicotine Buzz

As many have opined, I think overdrawing and too fast a cadence are the major factors contributing to the buzz. My sons (24 and 26) have just started to smoke pipes and I notice they don't seem to be content unless they are producing volumes of smoke. I'm trying to get them to gently sip the...

    Swanky "New" Pipe.

You got it with 14 seconds to spare! Must have been nerve wracking. 8O

    Newest Yello Bole

Thanks lifeon2. This old pipe is a survivor and will occupy a prominent spot in my collection. Maybe it will make it through another century!

    Squadron Leader

I'm still learning to interpret the taste of tobacco blends, but I do enjoy Squadron Leader. I always get the feeling of being in a ponderosa pine forest when I light it up. My enjoyment of it seems to depend on which pipe I put in. The cooler the smoke the better for me.

    NBC's Dracula

Someday I'd like to see a production more closely following Bran Stoker's novel. In the book women don't faint when Dracula gets close to them because he's sexy. It's because he smells like corrupted dead flesh!

Why Classic Heavy Metal Can Never Die.

I mostly listen to classical Baroque and Renaissance music but I can appreciate and enjoy good musicianship in any genre. Metal in all its sub-genres can be very entertaining.

    Newest Yello Bole

Just to revive this thread for a bit.... I also picked up a similar pipe this week except instead of a smooth finish it is carved. Also, the stem has what looks to be "CPF Chesterfield". The bowl has a clear spot in the carving with a clover leaf logo but says "Selkirk" under it. It's the...

    New Members, Introduce Yourself!

Greetings, Like a lot of the new guys here, I've been smoking a pipe casually for many years suffering through my ignorance of just how enjoyable pipe smoking can be after a bit of investment and study. Over the past 35 years I've slowly worked my up from Captain Black and some Tinder Box...
